I recently upgraded from a GTX 670 to a 970, now I see weird screen flickering when I run on the previous Games that run on DirectX 11, only temp fix I have found is to enable V-sync which has disappointing me immensely.

My FPS is almost halved now in whatever game i play. Used to be 140ish wherever game I was in, but I barely get over 50 sometimes.

I'm going to throw this out now, but do you guys think that because I now have a more powerful graphics card, I need a higher resolution/Hz screen?

That is what I call a System Specification Overload.
What Process did you take when you removed the old card and installed the new card, what where your Steps.

It looks like you are allowing Windows Update to Install your Graphics Drivers, so lets hope a Windows 8.x users chimes in for you.

Although you are limiting your frame rate with V-sync, you were never displaying more than 60 frames anyway as you had a 60Hz panel, even if you hit 140 FPS.  I'm sure you know this already.

That being said, I'm not sure what all of the most current BIOS are for your devices.  Someone else with more knowledge will chime in, I'm sure.  If you didn't already do it, I would highly recommend that you do a clean driver install.  Many times artifacts and issues are caused by having issues from the previous installation.  There is a 'proper' way to do it if you are unsure.  Several of the other senior members have posted numerous times on this if you read through the other 970 and 980 issue threads before they get to this.

As for a new monitor, that is a matter of opinion.  I haven never used a Fujitsu, but I'm not big on the 6 bit panels that use FRC to achieve the higher color numbers.  Your panel is one of the e-IPS from LG, and many have reported 'flicker' from them.  You say you didn't see it until after the card upgrade, though, which would indicate that is probably the cause.  Would I buy a new monitor?  Absolutely if your budget allows for it.

What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus

Step one, unplug old graphic card, step two, insert new one, no new cords were needed, since the 600 and 900 GTX series had the same ports for the cords, step 3, start computer in safe mode, uninstall old graphic card settings, and insert the EVGA disk with the Display Driver Install Files. Step 4, screen flickering from hell.. however, it only ever shows up in GAMES running DirectX 11, not DX9.

I know that having more FPS then your screen can show is rather useless, but having a higher FPS then normal means you are less likely to notice any and all drops below sixty.

And I am "pretty" sure that my Bios are up to date, both for my GPU and my Graphic card, the reason why I'm not "completely sure" is because its a Intel Core i7-3770k series, and I looked at Intel's homepage, but if their layout is not hard to navigate, I could not see ANY options to update anything.

As for "proper ways" I'm pretty sure I did ALL of the necessary steps to switch graphics card, I switched a Radeon card using the same steps as above in a much older computer, and got the same results, but I'll try switching monitor and see it the flicker shows up.

Edit; I would like to point out that I have NO hardware knowledge, so please don't expect me to "get" most Acronyms or common knowledge.

I did this, removed the graphic card, booted up the computer, removed the display drivers, turned the computer off, put the card back in, and reinstalled the display drivers, nothing changed.

Give this a try it sounds like you only over writing your old driver. Go to control panel system and security, Windows update, change settings and click never check for updates. This will not allow windows to search for a driver and install when you reboot. Now go to control panel, uninstall program. Now uninstall all of the Nvidia drivers make sure to uninstall the graphics drive last. Now it's going to ask you to reboot...don't. before you reboot go to C: Nvidia, Display Driver and erase the display driver the folder with driver number. Now reboot your computer. When you boot into windows your resolution should be 800x600 or something similar. Now go to your new Nvidia driver file on your desktop. Open the file, install, yes to the agreement, custom install uncheck all the boxes except the phys X and the graphics drive which you can't uncheck. Now check the clean install box and install the driver. Go into you Nvidia control and adjust your settings. Don't forget to turn back on your Windows updates. This will give you clean Nvidia driver. Let me know if this helps.

After removing the drivers, run the DDU utility to clean anything else from the system.  Sometimes remnants exist in the registry are are otherwise left behind with an uninstall.

I started looking through your Diag above and see already that the bios on your mother board is dated.  I think there is also a newer chipset driver as well on the second link amongst others.  Try looking here for the latest as published by MSI...

I will try to locate a link from one of the other posts to make sure that you have step by step instructions to make it easier.  We just want to make sure to try what is simplest before doing anything else.  I'm sure one of the more experienced guys will chime in soon.

That is what I call a System Specification Overload.
What Process did you take when you removed the old card and installed the new card, what where your Steps.

It looks like you are allowing Windows Update to Install your Graphics Drivers, so lets hope a Windows 8.x users chimes in for you.

This most likely is why you are having problems "Step one, unplug old graphic card, step two, insert new one"
You may want to remove all NVIDIA Drivers and then do a Clean up and then a Clean Install of the NVIDIA Drivers.

I was trying to find a posted section to link him to for a clean install with all steps from removing drivers, cleaning remnants, power down, swap cards, clean boot, clean install.  I know there are several but I just can't seem to find them right now.  May have to type it all out...

I did retry this, by removing the graphic card, starting up the computer, deleting the driver software, and then powered it down, put the new card back in, reinstalled the new display drivers, the screen flickering was still there, right now, following 's advice, will update if it does not work.

Did you run any kind of cleanup on the old driver after uninstall?

Also, are you using the same cable that you used from the previous graphics card?

Yeah, CptSpig's Advice did not work.. the screen flickering is still there, I'll now try the previous 3 links you gave me CoercionShaman.

Edit; No i did not run DDU cleanup thing, and yes, I am using the same cords from the old graphic card. (They fit, and work, I suspect my issue may lie with DirectX 11 itself, since only when running it does the screen flickering occur.)

2nd Edit; Alright, I ran the DDU cleanup thing, which rebooted my computer in safemode, uninstalled EVERYTHING i could related to Nvidia, and then restarted my computer, and the screen-flickering is STILL there..

Could very well be somehow.  Narrowing these things down takes a great deal of patience sometimes.  I've personally gotten to where I do a fresh Windows install with any major upgrade.  It typically keeps me from having to search out a bunch of other items.

When you go through the install process (again), make sure you run some sort of cleaner after uninstalling the drivers and before you power down.  Otherwise, what you have done seems pretty straight.

Well, thanks anyways CoercionShaman, but I would rather AVOID re-installing my entire computer from scratch just because of MINOR, and I do quote minor screen flickering, when Vsynch on, its barely notable unless I focus on it.

140 installed games total, 4.18 GB of pictures, funny gifs and 4.30 GB of music, PLUS all my google chrome bookmarks, is not something I wish to reinstall/find again..

Absolutely understandable.  I wasn't recommending that you do that.  I apologize for the confusion.  I meant reinstalling your video drivers, Daiemio, in that last post.

I was merely stating that it was something I started doing because I almost always have some sort of little problem with major upgrades.

So I assume that your Motherboards Bios is current, with that have you reset your Bios back to the Default or Optimized settings then then test.

... What? I should probably mention that I have NO frigging clue how to operate this computer apart from installing, uninstalling programs, and play games, I know basic stuff, like how to bypass a firewall, and run system specific programs, like Dxdiag, and various DoS commands, but when it comes to tampering the system bios and such, I don't even wanna touch it with a 10 foot barge pole, unless I'm 100% sure of what I'm doing.
