Do note, This is the K2 model. Lacking EVbot support, Bluetooth, etc.

Debating it honestly since I have a Rampage IV Extreme atm.

Warboy, no reason to change. The good thing is the full warranty if looking to purchase a new motherboard and preferring the x79 EVGA platform.

Yes, and I do have the First Round that have them.
On the Bluetooth I turn it off anyways and while I have an EVbot I do not really have use it on the Dark.
Now I am playing with my EVbot on my X79 Classified Motherboard.

On your Rampage IV Extreme no since to look at the X79 Dark, But the EVGA X99 Classified Motherboard you might take a new peek.

True, but other have complained about any EVGA X79 Motherboard, no one should have any complaints with the Dark Model.
After I replace my X79 FTW Motherboard in my AIO HYBRID this bad boy will be going to be a new shared family computer at my Dads Lake Hut. Best know for the old Fishing Cabin.

Well debating it. Since my Rampage IV Extreme board's warranty is about to expire.

Also I wish it could be used to step up to a X79 Dark -> X99 Classified. Since it's still LGA2011, just a different version lol.

The only issue I have ever had with my dark, is that it doesn't like the x79 profile for my ram. Other than that, which is a super minor thing, I really like that board.

Do you mean the XMP Profile? I guess I was lucky with mine.

Stupid autocorrect. Yes, xmp profile. Anytime I set it, I get BSODs. Never had problems with the ram in any other setup, but can't get it to work at 2133 on this one, so I am slowly tuning it to its max capacity now. I think it is more the cpu, honestly.

She is kicking strong. I have the 3960x at 4.6 right now. Kept thinking the issue was the overclock, and then figured out it was actually the xmp profile. Now I need to figure out the perfect formula to get it to run pristine.

I still think for the Money the X79 Dark and an i7-4930K or i7-4960X CPU is well worth it for a gamming rig.
Even on the low end CPU i7-4820K it is still a great Gamming Rig.
I Have to through in A Great Folding and or Crunching Rig Too!
I use my X79 Dark / i7-4960X CPU Rig as my everyday computer and Gamming Computer since day one.

Please lets stay Positive in this Post, it is about it being on Sale ATM and is still a great X79 Based Motherboard.
LFaWolf What Memory Make and Model Did You have issues with and was your Memory listed on the CPU and Memory Support Page.
I am using 2 Sets of Vengeance Performance CMZ16GX3M4A2400C9 with XMP Profile 1 with No Issues.
This memory is also not on the Approved Memory List for the X79 Dark Motherboard, I add this for all the users who will say EVGA does a poor job and updating their memory list for their Motherboards.
This same memory also works fine on my ASUS Rampage IV Formula Motherboard.

I don't think informing others of potential problem is being negative. Knowledge is key. Others should be warned if there is memory compatibility issue with the board. Painting an all rosy picture is not going to help anyone.
I tested the memory with 2 separate X79 boards, an ASUS X79 Deluxe (Gold Edition), ASUS Rampage IV Gene and only the X79 Dark has issue
    My memory - GSkill_F3-12800CL10Q-32GBZL

Recently, my machine with memory kit GSkill_F3-17000CL11Q2-64GBZLD is also acting up. Using XMP running at 2133MHz I get BSOD all day long. It has been running with XMP for over a year and it started having problems. I set it to auto (1333MHz) and it boots fine. I suspect it is the CPU (3930k) but the machine is too critical for me to mess around with the settings. I plan to swap them out with Crucial memory and try the memory with another board.

I bough an open-box Dark from microcenter for 112 dollars. I added the 2 year replacement plan in case it goes bad and it still cost me under 135 bucks after tax. The crazy thing was that people couldnt understand why I was so enthused about this board. Couple of sales people were like, just get an Z97 board its got most of the same stuff...

The dark is both beautiful and powerful, and once I swap up to the 4960x and add the second 980 around black friday time... Im going to be in HEAVEN (that is, after my wife kills me for wasting my disposable income on something to play games with)

Is the model you got with or without Bluetooth?
Myself I one with and I disable it so no big deal for me.
On my new one I will have two GTX 980 HYBRIDS Installed in SLI Mode.
Indeed the X79 Dark is a great Motherboard and will be around for 3 or 5 more years, at least for me.
Glad you are happy with yours. Bios 2.13 is Great BTW.

Rethink your new CPU, While I have the i7-4969X in my main rig I am very happy with the  i7-4820K and with an SLI Setup this is the way to go.
I hit 4600 MHz on this chip and could not believe how stable and easy it was to overclock. Only food for thought.
Anyone who has an older generation CPU for Socket 2011 would see a great improvement with the new generation i7-4xxxX 2011 CPUs.
Also True PCI Express Revision 3 to boot. No more 660force-enable-gen3.exe Pain in the rear to deal with.

Mine has Bluetooth, I keep it disabled via BIOS as well, although Ive been thinking of picking up a PS4 Controller and using that as my gaming controller. Thanks for the heads up on the CPU - it was something I had been kicking around, but its definitely not a need. 4820k is rocking hard, even after scaling back to 4.3GHz.  I can pump that money into a swap to 16gb of Dominator Plats, and pick up the sleeving kit for the PSU, and some other loose ends I need to tie up.

I'm so happy with this build its not even funny!

If it matters to anyone or if anyone looking for other insite, The GSKILL XMP profile works good on the x79 DARK, using 2133.

Bcavaugh, I really like your setup, and i was really considering getting a watercool for my cpu (...still rockin the air, haha) I'm wanting to go the water cool route for the cpu becaue it frees up room. My concern is that the radiator is actually hanging above the videocard . If i decide to do this, would i be able to mount that on the back of the case rather than inside? I did check and saw that i have 2 holes on the back for hoses to go in and out of. Is that what i need to do that? as you can tell, I don't have anything to do with watercooling, yet. I've only considered it to make my case more "spacious"

Edit : i only mention putting it on the back because i read a couple horror stories where a few of them actually cracked in their case, ruining their motherboard and video card (maybe they weren't doing something right...)

I now test any memory with the XMP Profile before setting them then old manual way. Lots of folks would like to know this info, thanks for posting.
