@Scarlet tech, nice work! Those look great.

I wanted to share this from over on OCN:

All blocks going forward will be 100% compatible.

Hey nerds, new bios is up over and KP forums. Get on it. It is 220 am and I am not going downstairs to flash cards right now.

Ok, I am a tad bit confused here. I just received my KP 980 today and planned to order the EK block but would like to know if it will fit with the stock KP back plate or do we still need to mod it to work? If so, can someone clearly post up step by step directions with needed hardware to get the stock back plate fitted up with the EK block.

Thank you!

Completely missed this.  You can use the original backplate.  You need to grab a drill and a drill bit that is a TINY bit larger than the hole, and widen it a TINY bit.. That is all.  It's like 1/32" that needs to be removed.   The KPE Backplate from EK will not give access to the switches on the back of the PCB.  I am sure you can figure out the steps to widening the holes with a drill and bit, so I won't insult your intelligence with that.

To figure out exactly which holes need to be widened, bolt your Waterblock on, and the just set the backplate on top of the bolts.  Look through the holes and when you see a screw, widen that hole ever so slightly.

Why would you need to mod anything? The last time anything needed mod ding was 5 months ago, before the error was corrected.

Idk I guess I'm a little confused about all of this. I ordered mine for Christmas, so it's already fixed? Will the 980 ti kpe work with my 980 kpe (non ti)

Re: Does the GTX 980 KINGPIn have a compatible waterblock??? 2016/01/15 21:13:57 (permalink)
It was fixed about 3 weeks after the block was released back mid 2015.

The 980 kpe block will technically work on the 980ti kpe, but it doesn't cover a few of the memory modules and it isn't meant for the 980ti.

Vice versa for the 980ti KPE block to the 980 KPE card.

Keep the card and block respective to each other. Don't mix the two.

Ah ok thanks for the information. I accidentally ordered the TI version and I have the non TI card... So looks like I'm screwed because I can't return it either, it's been just over the 30 day mark that EK has on returning items.

Have you opened the package? If not, contact them and see if they can work out a deal.

If you did, you should consider selling the 980ti block to order the 980 version.

I haven't opened it, but I'm not sure if plastic wrap came around it, if it was wrapped in plastic then it's going to be considered opened Cus I took that off. I just can't remember, but haven't even touched anything inside. And will do, I'll shoot them an email.

It is an orange box with a white sleeve. There is plastic inside, but there is not plastic on the outside of the boxes.

There will be a clear EK seal on each end to keep the sleeve from sliding off the orange box.

Give them a chat, and see what they can do for you. Being outside the 30 day mark with the box open, they may not exchange it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I agree with Scarlet here.

I suggest you to open a ticket here : https://ekwb.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Explain them that your ordered the wrong block and would like to know if it would be possible to exchange it.

If you haven't broke the seal of the block plastic bag itself it will help too.

You can use soft or hardline tubing some vendors make a special bridge or fitting companies have designated SLI fittings
