Someone needs to update the warranty page to show what products ending with MR have for a warranty.

More information about the memory offered can be found here: http://www.evga.com/articles/00928/EVGA-High-Performance-Memory/

Thanks for the additional info Joey.

Guess the MicroCenter exclusive explains the stock and the fact I couldn't find it anywhere else. I see the 3yr warranty portion is correct which is kind of perplexing as most if not all RAM being offered these days seems to be limited lifetime. You're only shooting yourselves in the foot with that.

It makes sense with all the other peripherals to add ram. Next up is probably a closed loop water kit that Corsair or Swiftech make. It makes eVGA a one-stop shop for everything but a cpu.

the corsair I linked was the same offering $10 more granted newegg has no tax vs microcenter. 3yr warranty is terrible considering most if not all offer lifetime. $10-20 difference for knowing my RAM is covered for LIFE is worth the extra $10-20.  I've had my same Corsair RAM for 5-6 years and if something happens and I'm still using DDR3 its still covered.

The microcenter listing is misleading.

Two 8GB Memory modules

If you click on SPEC's and look at "What's in the box" it says 4x4gb memory modules

Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston and other vendors give you limited lifetime warranty on Memory modules. I would be willing to pay extra $10-30 any day of the week knowing the product is covered for life.

Go read the article from eVGA. It shows the DDR3 is 2 sticks and the DDR4 is 4 sticks. obviously Microcenter printed it incorrectly. BTW, since you are hating on this product so hard, why do you really care?

Hopefully evga takes notice to all the concerns customers have posted and make changes on future products. Limited Lifetime warranty is the industry standard on RAM. I couldn't find one RAM vendor on newegg that doesn't give you a limited lifetime warranty. I looked at 12 different vendors on newegg.

RAM hardly ever fails, lifetime warranty is the reason for this. Still is weird EVGA only offers 3 year warranty.

I don't get the 3 year warranty either. Lowest warranty time in the business for memory, period.

Mushkin's got 2x8GB/CL9/1.5v for $99

I've had six sets of Mushkins, and only one bad dimm, and awesome customer service.

eVGA, needs to step-step-up their game, even if it is rebranded....

Mushkin customer service amazed me a few years ago. I wanted another set of matching Mushkin Ascents but they were discontinued and sold out everywhere. I contacted them and the guy the guy I talked to said they had none but took my info and said he would see what he could do. He ended up putting together a set out of spare parts they had in the back and sent me the set for the cost of shipping.

Just hoping by the time I go with DDR4, we still or do get cl9 at minimum. Just might stick to Z97 for a long time....

But, I guess some like their high Mhz/high lag ram...

While RAM doesn't fail that often, its still peace of mind when you purchase something. Like I said I'm still using the same DDR3 RAM I've had for years..and its still going to be covered for as long as I use it and that's worth it, especially when it comes down to perhaps spending only $10-15 more to get that versus a 3 yr warranty.  If I'm going to buy a expensive DDR4 kit I'm going to make sure its protected as its a big investment.

Re: EVGA Memory spotted on MicroCenter. What is this?! 2015/05/06 13:21:01 (permalink)
One thing people should keep in mind is that this is a brand new product for EVGA, and obviously a limited market for where it's being offered.  If it's successful, then you may see future iterations with wider availability and a different, and probably longer warranty.  If it turns out that these kits don't sell well, or any other hundreds of reasons that new product launches fail within so many years, then EVGA may not continue to offer memory.  If the latter happens, then a lifetime warranty won't be fair to customers since the company will eventually run out of stock of replacements.

Examples?  How about power supplies?  The original SR-2 PSU was a decent rebranded psu from Antec, but after several years, EVGA partnered with other OEM's and now has a great line of its own.  Yes, the newer power supplies offer a shorter warranty, but the quality is significantly higher.  Then again, there's the inDtube, which had a LLW, but you won't typically find them around anymore.

In other words, I see this first launch as a sort of "test the waters" scenario to see how it goes.  There is a lot of good competition in the market, and if all of those companies have LLW, then it wouldn't make sense to compete long-term with a significantly shorter warranty.
