Hola all!

I'm back and I need guidance. So, I'm looking to upgrade from SLI 770 Classified cards to SLI 970 FTW+ but I'm not sure about several small things. I read that the stock 970 is more or less 20% faster/better/stronger than a stock 770.

Question 1: The Classified ain't stock. So I can't really use the 20% case on a non stock card. Additionally I heard about the 970 actually having less VRAM than the 770's so...
Question 2: Would the less VRAM have more of an impact that I think even though the 970 is still faster?
Question 3: I'm using two ASUS VG248QE monitors and saw only 1 DVI port on the FTW+ - not sure if the cards would let me use each DVI per monitor to use my 144 Hz refresh or are the DisplayPort cables a must? Not sure if anyone can answer this one. I tried using Displayport on the 770 before but weirdly I couldn't get the refresh beyond 60 Hz.

I had the 770 Classified a little under a year just before the 900's were announced (-_-). So now I see I can get a small step up position to sell the Classified and get the 970's. Currently some pretty good deals with games thrown in. So is there anything I should know? Yay/Nay on the selling of the 770?

Thanks in advance

To start off, a 970 would be a noticeable improvement and may be worth a $100-$150 in the long run ecspecially for 144hz. The exact performance boost is hard to gauge because I don't think there are too meany studies on it. But to get to the DVI question, some models of the 970 like 2974-KR has two DVI ports and both an HDMI/DP so that may be nice for you. But a 144hz monitor needs a 980 to get the frame rate of 100+fps.

Cost of the 980 is just insane jump in price over an 970. I'd get if finances were better but definitely not now. It is hard to gauge given how these ain't stock cards. I'm not looking to game beyond 1080p. Maybe someday get a 3rd ASUS monitor and mod them to get the G-sync but I'm in no rush. Really, if I can push a game to max or near it and still have 30 fps even in the most intense moments is what I'm looking for. Example atm is GTA V which I can push everything except 8x AA - it'll tell my I'll go past my VRAM limit. 4x AA is where I leave it and it definitely runs well without being a problem.

The 970 will do just fine for 1080p gaming. Yes, you should be able to use both DVI-D ports (one from each card) without issues. Strange that the DP didn't allow you to go beyond 60Hz.

You 'can' get over 100fps using 970's (not sure about only 1 though.)
