Hi guys,

This is a new project that I am working on that I always wanted to do .

Got this somewhat hard to find Silverstone Crown CW03B-MT case with the interior powder coated black and I will use it to build a Water Cooled Gaming HTPC.

I will be using some parts I had from previous builds as well as some new ones.

I will be selling this when I am done building it

Planned hardware so far:

 - Silverstone Crown CW03B-MT case
 - Corsair AX860i Power Supply
 - EVGA Z97 FTW Motherboard
 - Intel Core i7 4790K CPU
 - 32 GB (4x 8 GB) Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile  CAS 8 (BLT4K8G3D1608ET3LX0) RAM
 - EVGA GTX Titan Hydro Copper Video Card
 - Creative SoundBlaster ZX SBX PCI-E
 - Hauppage 2250 MCE TV Tuner
 - 1 x Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB SSD
 - 1 x Seagate Constellation 4 TB HDD
 - 4 x Seagate Barracuda 2 TB HDD

Some pics of the case with some NoiseBlocker fans installed and some cables sleeved with Carbon Sleeving:

Will take more pictures of parts as they arrive and progress on mods done to the case so I can fit some WC equipment and add a window to the top panel

I will most definitely update after this weekend. I have a client's build to put together first.

A lot of parts will get here Saturday. I started installing LEDs but now I have to wait for the connectors. Next steps will be finishing the LEDs, cutting/installing window in the top panel, drilling holes for the Bitspower fill hole/pass through fittings and painting the drive cage and 5.25 brackets (whenever Silverstone decides to ship them out ).

Had to stop the client build for parts. I have gotten some parts for the HTPC as well but still waiting for several others. I hope they get here today, latest tomorrow .

Al least I got some pictures to share

    Hardware:

Getting Gelid Extreme and some Fujipoly I has left over from another build on the motherboard:

Intalled the SSD in the ICY DOCK:

    Installed the Bitspower Fillport/Passthrough fittings:

For anyone wondering, you need a 3/4 drill bit for these. Best one I found for the job:

    Now, to the drilling part:

The hole closest to where the radiator will go (dual 80mm fans) is a little higher due to its location and will most likely be where the drain port will be installed. I will update again soon when I finish installing the LEDs, cutting/installing the window in the top panel and painting the HDD and 5.25 drive brackets (If Silverstone ever ships it out of course ).

Quick update. I was able to finish the client's build. They liked it so much they ordered another one .The next one will be in a log since will be a BMW M Series build theme.

Started modding the brackets and adding a window to the top panel. Unfortunately the work has been cut short due to a piece of the Dremel getting bent and making impossible to cut straight.

Original bracket finally sent by Silverstone which will be painted black after it is modded to allow the EK bay reservoir to be filled from the top:

    Top panel:

    Tools to do the cutting:

    Disc for the straight cut:

To smooth the edges before hand filing and to do the corners:

    Onto the work, first bracket:

    Second bracket:

    Both modded brackets:

All 3 brackets ready for paint (after cleaning of course) :

Top panel ready to be cut:

And the EZ Lock piece that got bent (replacements will be here Saturday) :

I'll be cleaning then painting the brackets, adding the window to the top panel and flushing the radiator this weekend and I'll update all that early next week .

Small update. Flushed the radiator this weekend and finished the top panel window today. It took me way longer than I expected, but it came out pretty good for my first window .

I want to send a quick thank you for Bill Owen and the guys at mnpctech.com. They have been helping me with parts, how to(s) and mods since I first started .

Getting radiator and fans ready for assembly:

    Finished Radiator assembly:

Radiator being flushed with distilled water, an aquarium pump and filter. Left it overnight from Friday to Saturday.

Finished cutting the top panel window:

Finished window with clear plexi. Installed u-channel after grinding/filing the cut edges and then drilled the holes for the screws with a 5/32 cobalt drill bit. The window kit and u-channel are from the guys at mnpctech.com .

Left the brackets I cut earlier in rubbing alcohol to get all dirt and residue off of them and tomorrow will paint them up. I will also finish installing the RGB LED kit in the case. Have a good one guys and thanks for following the build log .

Re: [BUILD LOG] Crown HTPC Gaming Edition (modded Silverstone Crown CW03B-MT) 2015/05/05 23:51:52 (permalink)
Was able to get a lot of work done today (thankfully today was one of the days I felt better ).

First got all the RGB LEDs strips installed. It was kind of a pain to find a proper way for the strips to "walk" and hide the connectors.

All the LEDs were working fine ( I will take proper pictures of them once the build id finished ).

Onto the painting of the brackets:

All the debris that came out of them while sitting in the rubbing alcohol (they looked clean before I put them there ...):

My choice of tools for painting the brackets:

    First coat:

Second coat (30 minutes after finishing the first one):

And the brackets after the 3rd coat (40 minutes after second). Ended up using 2 cans to get all 3 coats:

    Finished product (all dried up):

Some of the WC stuff that will go on the build as well as 7 SATA III cables, NZXT GRID+ fan controller, Anker PCI-E USB 3.0 bracket and NZXT's Internal & External USB expansion:

Next I installed the i7 4790K CPU and the XSPC Raystorm CPU block to make sure I have enough clearance once I start passing cables under the motherboard:

Some Gelid Extreme TP (my personal favorite):

    5 HDDs (totaling 12 TB) and the 850 EVO 500GB SSD :

Next I installed the brackets in the case so I can start working on cable management:

Somehow I have to fit all these cables underneath the motherboard. That will be a lot of fun .

You could try some taller MB stand-offs , if you can.  Coming along very nicely. Paint turned out nice.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the MB standoffs that come with it are taller already. Any more and I'd have issues with the I/O panel hitting the fans in the back and will start having issues with the height of the PCI ports.

I am glad you liked the paint
