I just purchased the EVGA 04G-P4-2986-KR 980 GTX FTW from newegg.com because my other card quit after about 5 years and I have a thing for full cover water blocks. I got the card for 10% off plus a $10 MIR which sold me on this card as I would only pay $511.99 after rebate. But I'm wondering if there is a plan in the future for a water block for this card or should i use a universal cooler?

    Have you ran http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/ to see what EK has to offer?
    We are sorry but currently we have no supported FullCover water block for your video card. For additional info please contact our support at support@ekwb.com.
     
    With that you may have a hard time finding one.
     
    If you want a full water block you may want to pick a different GPU.

    if I go with a universal cooler like the EK Thermosphere from Frozen CPU and visually checked by EK. Will i need ram heat sinks and a voltage heat sink?

    Do not buy from frozen, they are not in business. Just a heads up on that part.

    It would definitely be advised to have the ram hest sinks.

    Could not really find any Parts for the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 FTW ACX 2.0 P/N: 04G-P4-2986-KR from performance-pcs so you are going to have do some kind of custom cooling. Not even EVGA's GTX 980 AIO Unit will work on your card.

    Drive down their and give us a report of what is going on with them. I miss them too!

    how about the Swiftech MC21 Aluminum Mosfet Heatsinks to cool the vrm? I also have Enzotech BCC9 VGA Cooler heatsinks in mind. Which one do you think will be best? I may wait till next year and just keep my CPU water cooled for now. for some reason I can't get a link to work. Thanks guys.

    The GTX980 FTW isn't based on a reference PCB so you will have a hard time finding a full cover block for this card.

    I'm just looking for a good VRam mofsets for it so i can use a universal heatsink. any ideas?
