I want to try Windows 10 preview (DX12) but I read somewhere it's collecting data and sending data to MS and you cannot stop it.  Anyone having issues with this?  Can someone using Win10 verify this?  Thx.

Yes, Win10 Preview does. That's part of being part of the preview. Win7 and 8 previews were the same way. Once the final product is delivered, the collecting returns to normal/opt out etc. I use a build just for testing OS's and trying things out, not my main computer, so I have nothing on it worth caring about M$ knowing. You want the test it? M$ needs info on how you use it. The norm, I don't think it's anything to bad, just you can't turn it off for the preview from what I have gathered. No worse than a cell phone nowadays. I'm sure it's on the M$ site or in the EULA. A quick google search says they do some key logging for the preview. How bad do you want to test it out? I like it so far.

It is not an issue and you agreed to it when you install Windows 10.

Just firewall it off with either Peerblock and/or ZoneAlarm.

That will not work with Windows 10 Back Doors in the Preview Version.

Eh, it's perfectly acceptable for a tech preview. As said before, they warn you about this when you install Win10 or sign up for the Insider preview. If they include this in the release, then there's a problem.

Prior to the initial install of Windows 10 this warning is shown and you probably clicked through it. The info that MS is getting from your PC is hardware/software based when problems occurs. It also gives them a database of stable and unstable systems. Microsoft has a large train of systems that they use for automated testing but even that can't cover every single hardware scenario.

I understand during tech preview, but look at what's been going on, just sick of n-ur-face-ads and tracking cookies without ur permission. Some forget "use to, didn't need cookies " to pull up a darn app/webpage....

In Europe every website must display a cookies warning popup the 1st time you visit the site.

Warning or no warning, should be ur choice, and why must most sites need/want  cookies, but tracking cookies and n-ur-face ads aren't needed. And it's like this on almost everything, Win8 is just the same (win7 here) and hope Win10 doesn't go ad/cookie crazy like everyone else...

I'm to the point, where I want just leave my main system offline, I've already went back to a dumb cell phone, home phone, and close to swearing off tablets, and just use a Linux laptop for surfing.

If Win10 does keep the need for cookies, ill just stay offline,

Every website which has a shopping cart, a forum which remembers whether you read a thread, or has a login needs at least one cookie. I'm not sure what you are going on about. I understand when some cookies aren't necessary, but many cookies are necessary for functionality and for providing the user with an acceptable experience.

The internet has ads? I use a version of FF with adblocker, script blocker, and a session cookie deletion add on. I only allow cookies and scripts for sites I want. Outside of that, it's on a per session basis. Every time I close my browser, the cookies and tracking info are deleted. Sites can detect ad blocking now and ask me to turn it off, I don't and still get the site info I need. Sites run on ads for money, just like TV. Also, your OS also doesn't make the ads, although win10 is testing this out. That's through your web browser, cookie etc are all through the web browser. Yes, an opt in vs. opt system would be nice, but if you know how to set up your browser you won't see any ads. I don't see any ads on net, at least with FF. If I have to switch to IE for something I am usually shocked by all of the space I see as dead full of ads. Win 7 and 8 by themselves have no ads, so not sure what you are referring too. If you installed something that creates ads or changes the browser toolbar, that's still not an OS issue.

For IE my settings are set to the right Image.
The Sad News is Windows Update Changed them to the Default the Left Image. Yes MS Did upset me doing this.

I saw this also and had to reset my settings.  I set mine the same way as you show in your pic on the right.
