Dell U2711 Monitor image is fuzzy/distored

Ah sorry Mod I posted in the wrong section - I meant to post in the General Hardware section - please move it -
Recently I got hold of a Dell U2711 IPS monitor. However, the image quality is completely messed up - it is so distorted that the screen wraps around itself. It is kind of hard to explain but in Windows 7 the window appears on a spot but it is actually not there. The resolution is definitely not 2560x1440 and images appear to be super pixelated. However, if I tapped on the side/top of the monitor, sometimes it will snap into the correct default resolution of 2560x1440 and everything looks beautiful. I think it might be a loose connection somewhere, but I don't want to open it up unless I know it can be fixed. Has anyone seen anything similar before? Thank you in advance.
 
P.S. I have tried all the connections - Dual Link DVI (both of them, this monitor has 2), Displayport, even HDMI. All of them exhibit the same issue.

    Pull the front and back off and then reset them, do not over tighten the screws.
