Hi, guys! I have ALERT for next-gen videocard as Pascal!! because you remember people get very confused and have criticized hardly to AMD Radeon since Radeon R9 2xx due to the DVI-VGA unsupported. Must keep DVI-I port and it's very important because I have CRT monitor 19" - I'm very happy for pure-smooth motion and no motion blur running GTX 780 Ti Classified! Please...

You could probably just get a Displayport to DVI-I adapter, or HDMI to DVI-I adapter. I wonder if you lose the analog signal if you do that. Does anyone know if HDMI or DisplayPort will carry analog signals?

"VESA designed it [displayport] to replace VGA, DVI, and FPD-Link. DisplayPort is backward compatible with VGA and DVI through the use of adapters." (Wikipedia) I know they both carry audio as well.

Yup, DisplayPort to DVI could be handled easily with an inexpensive adapter.

What about those of us running surround on 3x 2560x1600 monitors that use Dual Link DVI. I would need to buy 3 active adapters for dual link and those aren't cheap. I would like to see DVI stick around on cards a while longer. With the price of video cards getting crazy over the last few years, running high res surround is already super expensive as I need 3 high end cards, and then I would have to buy 3x $100 adapters on top of that.

It's time to move on from DVI, way pass time Besides no one told you to run 3 monitors, don't complain about the cost of an optional gaming setup

You're on an enthusiast/gaming forum chastising someone for running a gaming set up?

I'm not chastising him, I'm just saying his setup is optional and he shouldn't be complaining about how expensive something is

It certainly is optional but when I purchased the monitors things were a bit different in regards to price. The top end cards were $500-$600 a piece and obviously no adapters were needed. Now the top end cards are $1000 and if I need to buy adapters at $100 a piece as well I'm looking at $3300 just for video cards alone when before I could get by at about $1800. That's a big difference. And I'm not complaining, this thread was started by someone who was asking for them to keep DVI around on the next generation of cards and all I was doing is agreeing with him and explaining my situation and need for DVI. Also it might be easy for you to say it's time to move on from DVI, but I spent $3000 on monitors not all that long ago and they work fine but only have DVI so you can probably see why I wouldn't want to just "move on from DVI"

$100 for a adapter is crazy ridiculous, but if someone is paying over 3 grand on video cards then they really shouldn't be complaining about spend $300, just saying Anyway DVI just need to go, it's big, bulky, and takes up space that could be used for additional HDMI or display ports. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if cards weren't forced to have 2 of them on there. B.T.W. Can you post a link to these $100 adapters? I tried looking on Newegg but haven't seen them

Well every penny counts, $3300 is more than $3000. Not to mention I am not happy about the Titan Xs costing $3000 anyways and will probably wait for 980ti or whatever that should be a bit cheaper. And cards don't have 2 DVI ports anymore anyway, only 1. Current cards have 1xDVI 1xHDMI and 3xDP. Do you really need more DP ports 3 per card? Especially at the cost of the DVI port? I'm pretty sure nvidia cards can't drive more displays than that anyway. And here are links to active displayport to dual link DVI adapters. Keep in mind that there are plenty of DP to DVI adapters out there that are cheaper, but to drive 2560x1600 it needs to be active and dual link. Yeah I guess. $92 is still a lot. Especially for 3 of them and especially for something that isn't even necessary if the DVI port is just not removed from the card. I really don't think the DVI port will be removed from cards within the next generation anyway. It wouldn't make sense really. The card has no need for more than the current 3 DP ports.

First thing what NVIDIA should do for Pascal is to design attractive reference card for replace of TITAN based coolers. This model is on market from 2013 and people still love him. For Pascal should come something nice, silent and high quality as TITAN cooler.

Does DisplayPort to VGA adaptor not work CRT monitor? If "not" then I'm very worried and I'm very SAD. PS: I'm not interested GTX 1080 due to mid-end (=G[letter]xx4 - eg: GM204, GP104...) but yes new GTX Titan Pascal. NOTICE: This thread will be moved to new section "EVGA GeForce 10 Series"

Or you could just walk straight into Staples and pick one off the shelf, very cheap, and it works.
