I know they need to stay cool. At that time, 61c maximum with fans running at 75% constant.

I want the Waterblock on there, and now I am considering hitting them with a Drexel and the man some polish. I have the case rebuilt, minus the radiator and tubing, and need to get the cards ready asap. I am going to call Walmart (don't like that place) and see if they have any dry ice...

The only thing that gets me with the artifact in is that it is stock clocks. I have never had a bsod on the 3960x, and I was getting them all morning today, system was shut down last night, not left on. I removed one of the cards, since I only had two in, and haven't had a bsod since. All on stock clocks.

Hi all
Grrrrr my block is in Louisville, KY. No weekend fun for me

So we have issues with our new water block I see. I will fix that with my height gage scriber and a drill bit! Will post pics and results next week sometime. @antandbetty...hey not sure on the screw size needed for the back plate yet, I pick them up at a local hardware will give info when I do. @ssiperko1 and nycx360 show us some results

Am i the only nut here how does not want to mod a brand new block? I would love to see what it looks like when finished and if you guys can make that type of material look new again afterwards.......I will mod the block if EK gives me some of my money back....otherwise they can shove it where the sun doesn't shine......

I have been sitting in a build log, due to the move, for over 6 months now. Patience is gone and I want to start updating it.

I'd love to but alas I don't have the fittings I thought I did.

I did do this earlier with the kpex4pc bios on my 71 ASIC card.

IF anyone wants to swap a 71 ASIC for a 67 ASIC card I'm yer huckleberry.

I have mine mounted in the case... Only to find out that I have rad fitment issues sigh.. and a pump/res mount issue. My ut 60 280 wont play nice in the front so it has to go on the top, and my 360 wont fit in the front... -_-  Gonna go buy another rad from mirco center in the morning.

Switched from driver 350.xx to 347.09 and temps are down 5 degrees and I am not getting artifacts. I am running the GOTV (CSGO) benchmark while work on blocks.

I didn't Dremel back for enough, so it still pushes on the pins, but hell if I care at this point. My tubing should be here Monday, and then I will make a very primitive loop to hold everything over until I can get the PETG tubing in.

I am not going to be staying at it. If you are wedging your head between the PCI bracket and the case, you have issues. The only other way to see it is with a flash like through the honey comb in the very back. :-p the outside of the plexi looks like the rest of the plexi.

You should be able to seethem if you climb behind the case and put a light through the back to see that one little spot.

Oh yeah.. Here is a preview:

I have never used rigid tubing, so this may be a slow process. There is two pumps in the back right now, and I am going to have to shorten all of the wires to fit. since about 3/4 of the 24 pin is just Hanging in the back... Either way, I am going to bed.  have a good night everyone :-)

LOL you should of seen my crude method -.- I live in manhattan so I have no garage to work out of etc, nor do I own any home improvement tools outside of the basic drill and tool kit and dremel. I simply just put too weight plates on either side the waterblock and went at it from the edge of a table LOL.

Spent the morning cutting monsoon acrylic and installing it into the bitspower fittings to make my own crystal links.  I get tubing in tomorrow, and will be pulling the CPU block out.

lol at least you did it......I changed the photo to show the correct tool. It is for people like you and i who have no room. Fits right on the end of a counter or table and turns the dremel into a small router. 29 bucks...

Scarlet-Tech,

Very nice  Looks like your plan is coming together. Will the EVGA back plate work with water block hole pattern?
I'm not concerned about clearance hole size for screws its the pattern line up.

Yes, the pattern lines up, but the screw hole is around and m3.5 and the screw is an m4.  With the correct persuasion (which I am not going to entertain for RMA purposes) the screws can fit through perfect.

The waterblock will always use the same hole pattern as the cards, or you would be drilling through your card to install waterblocks lol. :-P

LOL SO MUCH MORE PROFESSIONAL OF A METHOD than mine. Mine was so crude lol. Sanding bit on a drill lawl. Whatever gets the job done. Got my blocks and up running. Can't say for stock temps since I have both switches on and pumping more voltage in. Managed to get the card up to 70c under load on water lol but did hit high 1600s for a quick run.

High 16's is a good thing! You never ran them on air to test them?

I have but the temps would be outta control. Kind of wish I had more rads. My temps are kinda high with an oc. My cpu temps are not doing so well thanks to these cards. I got a 280, 240, and 140 going and it seems like another triple would be better but I would have to mount that outside of the case.

Running @ 1580 on the gpu idle 36c load in the 50s and my cpu is idling @ 40c ...

Re: Does the GTX 980 KINGPIn have a compatible waterblock??? 2015/04/27 21:51:28 (permalink)
Well pretty much with just the swtiches and the power slider jacked up in psx I can do a hair under 1600mhz no problem. Anything more will require using the classy tool and really juicing this thing, makes temps out the roof even on water but for sure makes some very high clocks. Guess I will roll @ 1580 for daily driver. Keeps temps around mid 50s under load and my cpu temps are within reason under 100% load at the same time. These aren't clocks I could achieve prior without making a windtunnel. My cards were horrid on air. mid 1550s brought out 85-90c temps with 100% fan. Stock OC bios btw. I am sure could better with a diff bios.

Mem clock makes up for this card, elsewise it's not too impressive for such a high priced 980. Looks sick though for sure, but I think my next non ref high end will be an asus matrix.
