After upgrading to a geforce 970 gtx i played casually for the first 2 days with no issues. After that, i played on my hdtv for a few hours. When i switched back to the led monitor and started playing gta 5 these flickering red lines showed up in less than 2 minutes.

At first i thought it was related to the card's temperature as it stops a few minutes after closing the game, but one time the issue got worst and the temperature was at 38 deg. celsius.
But what's more strange is i have absolutely no issues when i'm playing on my hdtv, even after hours of gaming at the same settings.
When i switch back to the led monitor, these lines show up in about a minute most of the time.
Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? I already tried a different HDMI cable, but nothing changed.

Have you tried using a different cable? I had that issue but it was due to my sli bridge being loose.

    Hi AlmeidaJ,

You could also try testing different ports on the LED monitor if you have any available.

What resolutions are your monitors? It could be that difference in load between the resolutions could be what reveals the issue.

You could try reinstalling drivers but it looks more like an issue with your LED monitor. It's probably not the card if it works fine on the TV. So I would suggest replacing the monitor and just phaseing into using the TV until you can replace the monitor.

Hello, both my monitor and HDTV are 1080p 60hz, so i did not change the game settings. The only thing i had to configure was the desktop size in nvidia control panel because it was bigger than the screen on my hdtv.

I have tried using a different hdmi cable, but i haven't tried using my second hdmi port on my monitor.
I will test and come back to post the results.

I wonder why it only happens after playing gta 5 though, if the led monitor is the culprit.

Well, you didn't clarify if it happens in other games as well. It just doesn't seem like the GPU is "bad" or going bad if it works on your TV. But it could be a setting issue that a clean install of the drivers could fix. But if you did a clean install of the drivers and still had the issue I would be pretty confident it's your LED monitor.

I just tested another game and the same thing happened.
I could not use the second hdmi port, it's titled "hdmi2/mhl", all i got was a black screen using this port.

I played about an hour of gta5, the red lines don't seem to affect performance or anything else, but they sure are annoying.
Oh, and i did a fresh OS install.
I believe the problem is the monitor, it's just weird to have it fail right after changing my vga. I have this monitor for about 4 years.

I'm scared to buy a new monitor and fail to fix this issue as i kinda used all my savings for the 970 gtx.

You could just use the TV for it all.

My card comes with a mini hdmi to hdmi conector i have to use, i wonder if this small cable is causing some incompatibility with my monitor.

Resize your display back to the default 1080p when using your monitor. Downsizing it for the TV might have caused this. I had to use the NVCPL to downsize my display to use my TV but didn't have a chance to move it back to my 1080p monitor. Just a thought.

I apparently fixed this issue. I did 3 things different this time, i bought a hdmi to dvi adapter and used the dvi port, when installing the nvidia drivers i chose to not install nvidia hd audio and i also changed colors from dynamic to full.
I'd guess either the adapter or not installing nvidia hd audio did it.

    Thanks guys.
