I am considering an upgrade to x99 (possibly the SABERTOOTH X99) and stumbled across a few people stating sub-par performance with the EK-Supremacy EVO on 2011-3 sockets. The only info I found via Google is something about the screws in the base of the block not being recessed enough; & hitting the socket thereby decreasing contact with the IHS. I currently have the Full Nickel version. Can I use this block or am I going to need a new one? My block is currently mounted and in use so I can't look at it right now.

Are the screws fine on your sample? If so, use it and see. I have had excellent performance from it, but I have seen a few guys here say otherwise. In general, reviews have it being the leader more often than not.

Thanks. I have been debating whether to stick with my custom water setup, or go with an AIO. Getting lazy in my old age. Still not sure what I'm gonna do, but I like to do a lot of planning to make builds go as smooth as possible.

I havent had fitting issues, though havent tried on a 2011-3. I just never got temps near what reviewers said. The consumer reviews got just a little better than a normal supremacy. Which I guess is still an improement just not as much as I wanted, especially since the 5960x is a hot cpu.

Why Scarlet, me and a few others asked Nateman to work on his cpu block and see how it holds up against a 5960x.
