I know that the best way to keep your computer secure is to be careful about what to do, and where you go, but I don't want to rely soloing on my own caution (I am not infallible after all) I was wonder what everyone's thoughts and recommendations are.

And I don't just mean antivirus/malware software( though I am looking for a good combo), browser add-ons, security setting changes, whatever you can think of really.

i haved used alot of them mostly free ones right now i am using Avira anti virus. avg would crash me out while playing games give me bsod. bit defender free cant tell what it is scanning i would like to see it work and see what it scans. i  have used avast and norton is free with my internet service. but norton had always deletes freelancer and love that game. i go with Avira right now and malwarebytes. as for broswer add in i dont use them if you get that hokie fbi warning all you do is go into your task manager and shut down your browser . also use an external hard drive and back everything up make yourself a sytem image and rescue disk.

There are many free antivirus/malware protection programs out there. Investigate them and choose one that best suites your needs.

Personally, I like Norton Security also. I understand that's subjective but I've used it for awhile also. Also, Malwarebytes Pro is also good to have running resident. Hitman Pro and Junkware Removal Tool are what I'd recommend as non-resident cleaners.
