It would have to be sanded down to even fit onto the card...

those pins are not on their reference card it seems

Same issue here. Didn't even notice until you posted. Removing the Waterblock now.

Also, the m4 screws used to secure the Waterblock will not fit through the stock backplate. There will be no reuse of the backplate without modification. I will not modify my card.

Ek, can we get replacement blocks done up asap?

This is not acceptable. We waited how long for these and how could they miss this?. I am not a happy customer right now. Sent a pm to rep on here as i can not call europe.

Re: Does the GTX 980 KINGPIn have a compatible waterblock??? 2015/04/24 19:39:17 (permalink)
The pins are exclusively for testing the cards.  The LEDs are on the complete opposite end of the card.  There is 8 pins total, 4 in each row, and it is a connector to verify function of the card.  I will not modify these blocks, although I really wanted to start the rigid tubing tomorrow.

Submit a support ticket at EKWB.com/support.  You must have an account.  The difference between messaging Luc (who lives in Canada) and contacting EKWB direct will be that Luc is going to tell you that you have to wait until Monday for someone to get in.

Now, I wish they would have gone with the 2.3 cover design of the 780 Classifieds, and only covered the components that absolutely needed cooled, and left the extra show stuff off of it.  This wouldn't have happened if they had used a similar design.  The fans wanted and they listened though, so here we sit, not using these blocks..

SSIPERKO1, I want to see it installed.

I am testing 2 way SLI right now.  Max clock was 1544 passed on FireStrike Extreme.  Only one pass with minor artifacting and then it crashed the second run.  If I can not get a successful run, I will be tempted to attach the LN2 pots on tomorrow, if I can find dry ice.

Luc, you take care of you. You aren't in the correct country to make this mistake, so any news you give will be awesome, and thank you for taking the time.

The acetal will hold up fine against a Dremel, but I fear the plexi would crack.

I spent the extra $40 to add on the plexi terminal to match since ek refuses to put them on the plexi blocks stock, and I couldn't get the backplates because they are out of stock. This is the one time where I will openly say, "I wish they would give us backplates as payment in kind for missing something so major."

Quite frankly, I am starting to lose trust in EK. It took so long to get the Block, it isn't correct, backplates don't have the necessary holes to access the dip switches on the back of the card, the pricing is higher than any of my previous blocks, and they won't make the plexi covers have plexi terminals.... My frustration is at its peak. Those bitspower blocks are starting to look really nice.

Hi,
jeeeeesus, just one set back after another with these cards, 350.12 drivers don't work with modded bios now water blocks don't fit properly.  Looks like I will be waiting another 2-3 weeks to get them where I live.

Any possibility doing some single runs on each card on air with volts and clocks?

Just wan't to know if it's worth putting my card under.   Pretty close to ditching it for a titan X before prices dive.

Mine fits fine .... did a dry fit on one of my two.

I can even use the KP backplate BUT not with all the screws .... not a biggie really as the plate that comes with blocks uses the same mounting points as the stock plate. Guess which one I'm using.

Yes price is crazy close to TITAN X...But if you compare memory/performance no single difference as you compare TITAN Black vs GTX770 but not GTX770 4GB I mean on GTX770 2GB.
Absolutely same difference. And performance are 30-40% same as GK104 vs full GK110 and memory difference is :3.
Not worth, special when ASUS sell faster card 980 Matrix Gold for 150e less, when TITAN X cost 150e more and even AMD and NVIDIA should launch another cards. I mean NVIDIA will not allow to AMD sell cards 20% faster than GTX980 with double more video memory for same price. They will offer absolutely same card as 100MHz overclocked TITAN X with 6GB or new chip if AMD surprise with power. Here even water blocks are not finished. I would not like to build system and 2-3 weeks later GM200 6GB + EKWB waterblock for same money as 980 Classified.

If EVGA wouldn't void the warranty, I would trim the over excessive connections down. I just don't want to have to RMA and get stuck with a card I can't use.

Awk, you mean, like nickel flaking off? I remember when I bought my first block, that was a huge fear for most users.

No not only that, I don't remember the forum, I think it was at overclockers, I think where a guy got brand new CPU block and after installing it leaked between seal, EK told him he must have opened and didn't put it back together properly, he has never opened
If you search EK CPU leak you will probably come across that forum. My nephew had problem with few of their rotary fittings, they were tight, yet leaked, again it was his fault.
Anyways,  you can truly test companies(s)ability to rectify problem/mistake, many times you don't even realize how uncompromising and willing to help or admit they are until you facing a problem.
Have you had a best friend that you knew for years but really didn't know until you hit roadblock, that's when you see the true colors

I will sand down my blocks when EK refund me half the cost and pays my time to do it. Otherwise they better fix there block & send me a corrected version.

Found a stress test that will absolutely cripple the K|ngp|n.  I was very pleased to find that the stock clocks are unstable with 2 cards, and would artifact under light loads from this stress test.  By pleased, i mean that this 980 testing is not going in the direction I had hoped, and I am bout to install the 780Ti's.

Sorry about that, it is corrected.

What driver version. Also what temps? These cards cant go past 70c. Anything past 70c is asking for trouble, the clocks is not so much the issue. They need more voltage than other 980s for the same clocks, and are by far MUCH more temperature sensitive. The ceiling is high in terms of maximum clock but you need to keep them very cool.
