Hey Tucker147

So I tried Prime 95 and I got BSOD in about 1/2 hour!

The error was :

THE SYSTEM ENCOUNTRED AND UCORRECTABLE HARDWARE ERROR

What do you suggest I try now?

"UNCORRECTABLE HARDWARE ERROR" usually means that the VTT voltage is too low, bump it up to +125mV and try it again.

Hi,

Okay, so i Chanfged the VTT voltage to +125mV, but did not try Prime 95.  I started to play a RTS game and I another BSOD.  The error this time was:
Clock interrupt was not recieved on secondary processor

Does it have to do something with my Vcore Voltage? When you have please let me know what i Should now tweak?

THANKS A MILLION!!!

Yeah, "Clock interrupt" normally means that your vcore is too low. Try again at 1.265v (watch yor temps).

Sometimes it could be due to your ram voltage (VDIMM) being incorrect.

I find the trick to oc'ing these is to find the perfect balance of voltage (and plenty of patience)
Too high = unstable
Too low = unstable
what you want is somewhere in the middle.

Keep playing around with the Vcore & VTT while keeping an eye on temps, you'll eventually find some combination that makes it stable.

Hey tucker147

Thanks again for getting back to me and not giving up!

So I went to change the voltage in BIOS for the CPU Vcore but I did not see the 1.265v you suggested.  These are the voltages that I see under CPU Vcore:
1.25000V (currently set)
1.25625V
1.26250V
1.26875V
1.27500V
1.28125V

Which should I try? Is it just the next after the 1.2500V, the 1.25625V or the following one, 1.26250V?

Sorry, I meant to put 1.2625v

No problem bud, great to hear it's working good.

The nice thing about learning how to OC on X58 is that any newer platforms are a piece of cake in comparison.

Dual Channel VS Triple Channel performance in Gaming

Hi tucker147,

How’s it going buddy!?  I hope you’re doing great!

I value your insight and suggestion greatly, so that’s why I wanted to see what you think.

So I just realized that I’ve only got installed on my EVGA X58 3X SLI Motherboard (Model: 132-BL-E758-TR) two sticks of ram, 4GB each.

I have the G. Skill RipJaws X Series, 8GB (2X4GB) Kit, PC3-10666 1333 Mhz.

Would you know whether if they will be any performance increase for gaming if I purchase another 4GB stick so the memory is running in Triple Channel instead of Double Channel?

What do you think, would there be a performance increase in gaming worth paying another $60.00?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

For gaming the difference between dual and tri channel is very small (1-2 fps at most) and 8GB's is still plenty for games so I wouldn't bother getting another stick.

Just want to say thanks. I seem to be running stable at 3.5ghz now. I was using the 3.2ghz dummy OC option for years. I do seem to get BSOD when I turn speedstep back on but I can live without it. I seem to idle around 44C and I use an old copper zalman heatsink and fan.

Glad it helped.
Those idle temps are ok, my 920 @ stock idles around 38c with a Hyper 212+.

If I wanted to be stable at 3.8, how high would you suggest I bump the vcore? +150 or +200?

Edit: Eh, I need to just learn that guide you linked to earlier. I'm sure I'd need to change many other settings.

That depends on how good your chip is. Mine can do 3.8GHz with 1.25v. You'll just have to experiment with it to find out what works best.

Edit: Yeah, reading guides and experimenting with it is the best way to learn oc'ing these cpu's.
