Under gaming load (or otherwise) what is generally considered the GPU upper temperature limit ?
I have installed CPUID, HW Monitor.  It states a "max" of 38C. Under light load no games running, it's
giving me a "value" of 35C which seems uncomfortably close to "max".
Thank you,
Ken

I am curious where you saw that the max was 38c, and why 35c would bother you. 80-90c is where you should worry. The 30's is nothing at all to worry about.

Thank you for the reply.  The HW Monitor (from CPUID) is where I am getting the readings.

Lol, you aren't seeing the maximum allowed, you are seeing is the maximum it has been to.

When you game, it will go up and then shows that way you can come back later and see your temps.

Allrighty then; thank you for putting this into perspective.  So, at what point (short of smoke) should I start concerning myself with the
    GPU temp (ie. 60C, 80C, etc.) ?

I would turn the fans up a little if the card started consistently sitting at 80c.  Anything below that or not constant, and I wouldn't worry.  During extremely heavy loads, the temps can go up fairly high.

I have two 760's in SLI and they both run around 76c, with them strategically stacked with the hottest card on the bottom and the cold card on top, so they perfectly compliment each other.

If your temps do start to rise, you may have an airflow issue, but if they are staying low, you shouldn't have anything to worry about for a long time.

Thank you again, for the useful info.  The most frequent gaming load I place on the PC is MS FSX.  HW monitor has been indicating a steady 43C for GPU temp.
    when running FSX.
I started experiencing some artifacting and abnormal in-game rendering about a week ago > white triangular flashes, black rectangles, and "grainy" looking
water.  The "grains" move in an irregular wavy pattern. I can't think of any actions I'd taken to cause this. It started suddenly. It doesn't happen all the time,
just often enough to be annoying ~:)   Along with the other symptoms mentioned above,  frequently when changing views (major change) large objects will
be rendered in solid medium gray color for several seconds before appearing with their normal detail. This is a new development also.  The card is only
    ~one year old.

Thank you for the valuable limit specifications Christian.  So far, under the heaviest load I have created, the temps have not exceeded 47C (by HW Monitor).
    Best to all,
    Ken
