After a few weeks, I finally figured out what was in my Alienware is a EVGA 680i SLI MB.  I went to try to upgrade the BIOS and I was presented with 3 options for the motherboard part number.  What I can see is that my MB is "REV D".  Basically starting the process up upgrading my CPU and memory, just need to know how to verify I am downloading the right stuff.  How do I make sure I don't actually have an LT SLI?...

Alienware was snapped up by Dell.  Dell has no idea who I am and so really cannot help me.  In the end, I would like the best CPU  / Video / Memory I can use.

the part number should be on the product label. Only problem is it may be affixed to the backside of the board.

Here is what your looking for (http://www.nvidia.com/object/designed_by_nvidia_680i_sli.html) this program might help(http://www.piriform.com/speccy)``~ on the nvidia web site it says to use this program to find specs. I am not responsible for any downloads or decisions you use ,due to the fact that i have never used these programs. It states that evga bios downloads will not work. You have to use alienware bios or maybe dell bios. Using dell program to check for updates might be a possabality. I have used dell driver downloads on my dell laptop. Here is location,(http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/ProductSelector) Cpu compatibilty list(http://www.nvidia.com/content/nforce700i/nForce_Intel_CPU_List.pdf?ClickID=awnyaolz5poraasros5zs9va9vvs9ksa5sks) the memory compatability will be determined by the motherboard. If you figure out which one maybe the memory can be figured out from there.

Re: 680i Question 2015/03/30 14:44:50 (permalink)
I used speccy.  It told me what I see.  Motherboard: alienware Model: Alienware Socket 775 or:
Manufacturer alienware
Model alienware (Socket 775)
Version alienware
Chipset Vendor NVIDIA
Chipset Model nForce 680i SLI SPP
Chipset Revision A2
Southbridge Vendor NVIDIA
Southbridge Model nForce 680i SLI MCP
Southbridge Revision A3
System Temperature 29 °C
BIOS
Brand Phoenix Technologies, LTD
Version 6.00 PG
Date 7/3/2007

Getting ready to abandon this search.  I am pretty sure if I can lock down on what board this is with out ripping apart the computer, I would got for a quad core Socket 775.

Does EVGA have a motherboard detection tool?

Can you give me the Complete Alienware model. I was going to look in (WIKI) for it or you can. Or any part #s off back of case ?  WIKI seems to have some information. You also need to include the year it was made. I will try to help if possible !

The quad core will work in it. If you look @ the link I sent you it states that ! As far as bios revision if you look on same page top left hand corner it gives you (driver) click on it, then it opens , look @ (all Nvidia) drivers (if) there is a newer bios it should be there don't see your reasoning for bios update but that's your decision.

I found the invoice.  What is says is: evga nforce 680i sli mb rev d motherboard
Area-51 7500-R5

There are a few different BIOS updates I could pick but I would like to know which board this is so I can pick the right one.

This is what I have found so far (http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/SLN106746/EN) just to be sure do you have any serial # or part # would help a lot. Also is this model a desktop ?
Here is another link it give you a option to check your system for drivers or repairs (http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN179142)
