So the description says the board can be used with a wi-fi card and I assume the m2 is there for it. But all pictures I've seen show no cut outs on the back of the back plate to accommodate the antennas... Is there another way to have wifi on this board? Please advice. Thanks.

I'd like to know too. I can't even find a wireless card to suit.

Again, even if such card is found, how do I get the antennas out? Do EVGA expect me to cut holes in the back plate myself? And the argument that "you don't see antennas on laptops" is quite original, but let me point out that very rarely laptops are steel boxes, besides there are antennas inside laptops, they are just not visible and sometimes can be quite lengthy. All other boards I've reviewed, and not only with X99, but Z97 as well, and if wi-fi capability is intended, provide some cutouts on their backplates... it appears EVGA had something else in mind, because I can't imagine them simply forgetting to put it there. So either X99 mini is not capable of proper wi-fi set up (as the marketing description claims), or there is another way around, and frankly speaking I can't think of any... hopefully we can get a clarification from EVGA soon.

I would like to know as well. I am currently using a pci WiFi card and would like to put in an m.2 but don't want to lose signal strength due to no antenna options.

Can you tell us what PCI card are you using with your x99 mini?

Hm, is it working fine with the full pci-e slot on the micro?
And it appears pci cards is the only way to get wifi on this board, unless EVGA decides to issue a proper back plate to customers, which I presume they are not in a mood of doing...

Yeah, the card is fine in a full slot. 😉

I have one of these in my 3770K system.  Works pretty well...

My second system, which has Gigabyte X99 UD5 Wifi, has the AC7260 card in it.  Gigabyte built in the antenna port on the back of the io shield.

Here is the direct Intel equivalent to it:
