Interesting read which only leaves me to believe the G Force drivers aren't yet optimized for dx 12.

Thanks for the heads-up! I have an M.2 with Win10 on it and a new 290X Tri-X OC, both laying around here somewhere. Maybe it's time to find them.

R9-290X and TITAN X... Two different worlds.
You can't compare that at all...
TITAN X 245W consumption in Peak 85C MAX, R9-290X 295W power consumption in Peak 95C MAX, Performance difference 60-70%.

Whatever the tdp and temps. The test is not fit to measure gfx performance as stated above.

That test is not even accurate... That's as AMD explain us that 8350 is best processor on the world in "some" situation.
I only say that TITAN X is technology 3-4 years in front of R9-290X and comparing them is stupid thing.
No such situation where R9-290X will be weaker less than 50-60% than TITAN X or more.
NVIDIA and Microsoft will not allow that. AMD can send every day new rumor and new project or two rumors for one day, nobody look at this moment on AMD. People will think about AMD when they show their cards. Last 20 news in last 10 months NVIDIA present performance and AMD rumors and promises. Until they show R9-390X they should be dead for everybody.
How many things they say about R9-390X in last 6 months, now we don't know nothing about that card. Nothing for sure.
And we hear 20 different things. 4GB, 8GB, revision, not revision, 22nm, 28nm, dual card, single card, 200W, 300W, Mantle is dead, Mantle is not Dead, stronger than TITAN X, stronger than GTX980, liquid cooling, air cooling... and next month will be same probably and month after that.

Amd and nvidia are both companies employing corporate business strategy, so market hype is definitely a part of it. However a lot of the recent amd rumors seem to be spun from little or no facts. What Is factual information right now is simple, AMD is releasing a new card soon. The linked article in my original post Is interesting in that it shows a substantial leap in API efficiency from DX11 to DX12. It's also interesting How at this given time the 290x shows the most improvements with DX12 api. For all reading this and thinking that the 290x will be better then the titan x with DX12 it's simply not the case.

I'm not sure any more they will launch card...maybe ever again...
AMD talk about HBM before almost 1 year. In that time that look as serious innovation but until they launch and optimize cards 2 years will pass and NVIDIA will have ready HBM but she don't need to hurry at all...
TITAN X is fantastic and with GDDR5 and ready for DX12 and new Windows.
