Hello everyone,
I am afraid after opening my GTX 780 SC ACX on the heat spreader? is a greasy liquid. It's also on the pcie pins? I think but take a look at my pictures.
My reason to open my card was my card was often hot in game and won't boost. So I wanted to replace the cooler with the ProlimatechMK-26. Is this a known problem? Is this greasy liquid from the ACX fans?

Not a problem. It is the thermal grease from the thermal pads that do this as they heat up and cool down. It is ugly, but won't hurt anything as they are non conductive. This happens with my ek waterblocks as well, so it isn't just the EVGA thermal pads.

That bottom right corner of the core missing thermal paste is probably part of the heat issue though. When you apply fresh paste, try to make sure that covers everything on the core itself.

I have tried the dot method, grain of rice and so on, but the best results came from spreading the Tim in a thin layer of the core and then just putting the cooler back on.

Thank you for the information. I cleaned everything with alcohol and replaced the cooler. Next step is testing the card. Btw.
my way to add thermal paste is with sellotape on my fingertip. You have full control and you are able to make a real thin and even layer of paste.

I have 4 cards I have to repaste soon, as they are getting waterblocks, and will keep this in mind. Thanks :-)
