I really want to get a monitor like this (I'm personally holding out for the Acer 120 hz G-sync version), but I'm curious to see how much GPU power it's going to take to even run 60 fps on a monitor like this.

I bought an LG 34" curved monitor, replacing my Dell U3011. Got to say I really like it. Gaming is awesome. 21:9 isn't that bad.

Videos don't look bad either, especially with MPC-HC w/MadVR.

I need to get a Titan X though, the 780 SC isn't cutting it for my games.

That monitor looks awesome.  Do you feel as if the curve is beneficial in anyway?

I like the curve, it kinda makes it feel like nvidia surround if you've tried 3-way before. I feel it's just right. The curve makes it easier to look at things on the left and right side since the monitor is very wide. I feel I don't have to move my head around as much compared to a flat one.

I have owned the LG and the Samsung 34" curved and returned them both, LG over all was a better but @ $1.299.99 it was not worth it and the Samsung one for gaming was terrible.
I am now waiting on the Gsync IPS screens, as the ASUS one is garbage for $800.00

I was originally going to get the Dell U3415W, but was able to snag the LG one for a very good price. It was used but is in excellent condition. @ $1,299.99, I wouldn't have gotten the LG, I would have gotten the dell for $1,099.99 from B&H.

I miss the color accuracy/reproduction capability of my Dell U3011, but even Dell's U3415W can't do 99% AdobeRGB, only 99%sRGB and about 70% AdobeRGB.

There was a deal going on sometime ago for the LG model, it could have been had for $800. I don't remember when or where but I do know they had some deal like that going on.

Can you quantify this pelase? I had the LG which had TERRIBLE backlight bleed (returned). I now have the Samsung VA panel which works great and I mostly use it for gaming.

If it helps, a 3440x1440 monitor has ~33% more pixels than a 1440p 16:9 monitor. That said, my SLI 970s laugh at this resolution.

I got in on that. It was a Cyber Monday deal and was for the non-curved version. Its no longer going on obviously.

Yeah my LG also has noticeable backlight bleed. It's only visible on a black background though, so doesn't really bother me.

My problem is that I play space sims, so I have a lot of black background quite often. This is also why I wanted the Samsung monitor. That VA panel really kicks out the black Levels!

How are the response times on the VA panel? I heard people were seeing ghosting on the panel.

Yup. I had slight ghosting until i changed the response rate in the options menu on the monitor. Don't get it anymore.

The LG had terrible back light bleeding, but that was not why i returned it, if your super picky every now and then like 2-3 times per hour you can see a  horizontal line smack in the middle of the screen, its a horizontal screen tear or some thing. LG said it was a design flaw, and gave me a refund + tax, I did not pay tax so pocketed and extra $104 bucks for the month or so  it took me to get them to own up to the problem.

The Samsung did not have that issue but that VA panel artifacts like a mother with Vsync off and was just not what I expected, the colors where terrible compared to what I had been using the LG 34 and before that 3x Dell Ultra sharp 27" with NV Surround.

The Gsync ASUS , my god, for $799.99 its garbage, Gysnc not working at all in windowed mode was the biggest, and while it do admit its the best looking TN panel I have ever used you cant compare to a Ultra Sharp Dell IPS panel or even LG's 34U97 panel. This should be a $499.99 monitor at most IMO!

Agreed about the ASUS. For $800 it shouldn't perform how it does

Im sorry but having playing with this Samsung VA panel flr almost 2 months, and I can say I've never seen "atrifacts" with ir without vsync. That sounds really odd, and am wondering what Samsung said about this?

I should note that I've actually had 2 of these monitors and neither had an issue remotely like anything I'd describe as "artifacting".

Can you elaborate a bit more?
