Just wondering but, does anyone have a clue as to when the Superclocked Titan X will be available? I might have missed it.

It's available now, but it's like all the other Titan X's that are hot commodity right now.

Wait a minute, you can actually BUY it now? All it shows for me is "Auto Notify". Been like that for daaaayyyyysssssssssss man.

Yep, there's people that already have the SC's.  Personally I wouldn't wait specifically for that card since you'll be able to get the same + better overclock with a vanilla card.  If you don't want to bother overclocking you can flash the SC bios to a vanilla card.

But NONE of the Titan X's are available. All show the god damn "Auto notify" button I've pressed a million times hoping for a miracle. NONE at NewEgg, NONE at EVGA. I think Nvidia has it buy only the basic version. Also I don't know how to do any of what you mention man. (Flashing & overclocking).

Probably we're in a lull right now where their initial production of Titan X's from Taiwan / China have sold and they're waiting for the next plane / boat to restock all the distributors.  Asus has vanilla ones for sale too on Newegg, but EVGA has a better warranty.

Overclocking is dead easy.  Most of the Titan X reviews have an "Overclocking" section that shows their settings.  Read any overclocking guide for any recent NV cards and you know how the process goes.  The SC is basically a vanilla card + 127 Mhz on the core clock and +0 on the memory.  Pretty yawn-worthy.  I'm sitting at +250 core and +550 memory.

Hey man, check your PM when you can.

My dear flyhii, thank you for taking the time to spell out the words that help me to now begin to get at this question. My little rig does only have 4 x 4gb ram, and with your better than ordinary explanation of this stuff I can see getting this card would make sense for me insofar as my favorite games for the past few years have not been the most demanding games. In fact my gtx590 classified keeps up quite well. I have been waiting to upgrade for some time now, and I like this card more and more.

Phanteks EnthooLuxe, ASUS ROG MaximusHero Z270, Intel i7-7700K, NocturaN-D15, Corsair Vengeance 32GB, Samsung 960Pro m.2 1TB, Win10Pro,  EVGA supernova1000, EVGA Geforce RTX SuperXC, CorsairM65, LogitechG19, AcerPredator XB321HK, AIDA64Extreme

Re: Titan X and 24gb Ram dafook? 2015/03/26 15:50:27 (permalink)
I can understand the need for using 12GB of system Ram to use if the gpu needs over 12GB vRam(ie..memory swapping), but why 24GB?

I'm using 16GB and i just don't grab the need to upgrade to 24GB or higher.

Also, NVidia would be really limiting it's potential buyers, in pricing the gpu at $1000 and asking for 24GB or more system Ram.

Now if there is a viable reason that nvidia can state as to why 24GB+ is needed, then i'll upgrade my Ram.

Or i'll just wait for the soon? to be released 980TI(6GB?) as i'm sure 16GB will be enough.
(Personally i want to put a nice 8-core/32GB+ build together with Skylake in late 2016)

btw: Any word on the sc'ed edition being in stock even by next week? TIA

Today B&H photo states the superclocked will be available to be shipped for my preorder April 20; no sales tax and free expedited shipping.
Today for the same superclocked Titan X Amazon sent me an order confirmation, estimated delivery date Monday May 4 Thursday May 21, tax 84.97 and free 5 day shipping.
EVGA and Newegg today only show the autonotify option, which means, so far, that I will be notified at least 50 times, by each one!

Hey

i got tired of evga's site and ordered mine on ncix (canadian customer) on that site you can order even though it's not in stock so you get it as soon as they get them. Easier this way. Also, i called them and digged a little deeper and it seems to be a fact that they'll get them from 5-10days. They even state it on the web site. knowing that, i bet evga, newegg and other resellers will have stock REALLLL soon!

there you go! they even go as far as saying that the zotac versions are going to be available tomorrow!

If you go look over on OC.net there are quite a few using 16gb ram and reporting everything is running fine !

Not surprising considering even those such as myself using half that amount of system RAM are running just fine. This, however, leads me to believe mainly 2 things, which Meric1837 had mentioned in another thread as well: 1) You need to use up all 12GB VRAM before you run into issues with <24GB system RAM and/or 2) Some amount of RAM <24GB with an adequate page file will suffice (for the time being).

Heck, that first idea was even mentioned by EVGATech_ChrisB that I responded to you with in this thread. I'm just repeating myself at this point.

I now have 32 GB ram installed, i really can't tell a difference from when i had 16 GB (once I fixed the page file settings) but there's nothing that will use more than 6 GB of VRAM that i know of. Only time will tell I guess.

Great! Can you can try running Shadow of Mordor @ 5120x2880 DSR or something similar to load up as much VRAM as possible? Any tests you can do would help.

Edit: Sajin also mentioned in the other thread:
Sajin
Someone with 24GB, 32GB, 48GB of system ram needs to test the following...

Run #1:
- 24GB, 32GB, 48GB system ram installed only.
- Unigine Heaven 4.0 @ max settings.
- Page file located on SSD. Page file set to 2048MB min/max.

Run 2:
- 16GB of system ram installed only.
- Unigine Heaven 4.0 @ max settings.
- Page file located on SSD. Page file set to system managed.

Would love to see the performance difference.

How do you set it to 5120x2880? is this needed in the nvidia control panel? because in game it only lets me go 200% (3840x2160)  at this setting it's only using 6535 MB of VRAM and my system is using 8252 MB of RAM.

my specs are
EVGA Titan X SC @ stock
i7 4770k @ stock 3.5 (usually it's higher but i turned off all OC for the time being)
32 GB of Gskill Trident X Cas7 @1600mhz
Windows 8.1 64 of course :p
Gigabyte Z87x UD5H MB

running on a 1080p and a 1200p dual monitor setup (waiting to find a good 1440 @120hz monitor soon w/gsync etc)

I guess the 2880p DSR setting is only for those running 1440p+ displays then. In any case, you were using more system RAM than I have all together. I wonder if the performance would lessen any (significantly) if you went back to 16GB RAM and forced the system to use less.

I tried messing with the DSR- Factors setting in nvidia control panel, when i turned it to 4x native it reset my displays but nothing seemed to change in game, it still used the same VRAM/RAM

ok looking into this a little more , seems my system used a peak of 6845 MB VRAM, ~14 GB system RAM, ~24 GB page file (it's at 12 GB now). I don't know when it used the 24 GB of page file, it wasn't when i was playing the game.

Ok, this is getting me bit more nervous now. I guess the only question left to ask is is the fps significantly worse/better between using 32GB vs 16GB and of course does the VRAM usage decrease/stay the same...?

Yeah I'm pretty sure I had the same VRAM results when i used 16GB RAM my main problem was the page file settings. Once fixed I stopped having issues. The numbers on the System RAM I'm sure are inflated since Windows 8.1 etc and I'm sure 7 scaled it's usage of RAM based on how much you have total.

as far as i remember: No overclocking and all settings on MAX /ULTRA  with the scaling at 200% at 16 GB RAM/6GB VRAM usage yesterday it was giving me ~40 fps, at 100% scale it was giving me ~100fps. Which is the same numbers as today trying it with 32 GB RAM/6GB VRAM usage.

Pretty sure this game doesn't have the best optimization right? also I'm using the only Nvidia driver for the Titan X so far.

I think the Titan X will also mature once the drivers really start rolling out. So performance increase expected?

Of course, it's just a matter of whether those drivers will end up screwing those with less than 24GB of system RAM or performance could increase across the board, despite system RAM installed (I'm pretty confident the latter will hold true though). We'll soon see.

Hopefully the latter ends up being true like you said. Do you think I should still order the RAM? You know.... just in case?

That's up to you and your needs ("future proofing" or what have you). Taking Kinfet's results into consideration though, if it's not making a difference in performance currently then I am personally going to hold off (hoping I can make it to Skylake and just jump to DDR4 without sinking more money into my current system) . One thing is for sure, RAM is not going out of style anytime soon .

Gentleman,

I have read all of the RAM discussions across multiple threads. My system is in my signature. I should be showing more that 4 gigs of dedicated video ram correct? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate.

That definitely doesn't look right. mine shows Total Available as 28646 MB, Dedicated is 12288 MB, System video 0, shared 16358.
