Seems my comment about Clarkson being "above the normal rules" was blown way out of proportion.
Perhaps I should expand on that. I was not stating that it was my personal opinion that he is above the rules, instead that essentially what the public thinks doesn't matter to the BBC, they will go their own route. (Which they evidently have).
However, I stand by my correlation between this incident and other celebrities and politicians. For example (and this is NOT political, I don't lean either way), put in perspective the Hillary email scandal. Big deal, I don't care one way or another what the emails were. I'm not even going into whether she broke the law. Instead, I am just pointing out if she were in a global, multibillion dollar corporation, she wouldn't get off with a slap on the wrist for breaching security protocols, she would at minimum be fired and never work in the industry again, likely with jailtime as a possibility. (Note: I am not at all saying she should get jail time for her email catastrophe or equating it to Clarkson's assault, I'm simply using it as a current events example to illustrate my point.)
Now, all that being said... As a viewer, I hate the decision. If they really do lose all 3 hosts, or even just one, the show is over.

Well Said David Knight!  Top Gear does not need the BBC anyways and go to the free market. To many people can't handle Clarkson's jokes with their PC prospective. As David explains he shows a fractional list of other things Jeremy got in trouble for with his joking self.

For 3 weeks there were on-going updates about this topic in the news, but everyone here was so busy posturing about what they'd do or not do to Clarkson if he hit them that the topic became largely a farse. Whatever happened to letting the victim decide how retribution gets doled out? I'd love having the choice presented to me of punching the dude in the face, taking a $ payout, apology, etc.

Because I've been away for some time, I haven't really been following what's been going on with Jeremy Clarkson.
All I can say is that Top Gear is a great show, people love it all around the world and I have very much enjoyed being on it and driving the reasonably priced car.
Wherever I am in the world, people are always saying: "Hey, when are you going on Top Gear again?"
Jeremy has that really cool voice, a great passion for cars and his laid-back, classy on-screen attitude was really cool.
I hope the show continues, but it's hard to think of it without him because, really, Jeremy is Top Gear

He's only 54 years old? sheesh in the last show I saw with him, he looked like an old geezer and he was talking about retiring. I thought he was in his early 60s. Well he probably made a lot of money anyway since the show made it out here. If it was strictly BBC only he would be poor as someone working at mcdonalds. They don't pay their actors a whole lot in the UK.

I bet the producers will take this chance to have tighter control over the show which in turn will ruin it. The new hosts won't know each others like the old ones did. I don't see the rating being like it use to be. Top Gear America was so good, it was canceled.  The fat guy (Rutledge Wood) has a new show called "Lost in Transmission", he works with a corny guy getting old classic back on the road for people. They fail at trying to be funny. I don't see his new show lasting over 3 years.
