780i raid utility not detecting all 3 drives, only 1

RAID is enabled,
and also enabled on all ports.. (and issue still persists)

we have 3 WD 1TB Blacks on ports 4, 5, 6
the raid utility only shows 1 free disk, and 0 array disks.

Thanks for any help...

we were able to get 2 to show up with the 3rd drive unplugged.
but when all 3 are plugged in, only 1 shows up in RAID Utility.

Are you using a Sata optical drive too?!?! If so, remove it and it should fix the issue.

    Thank you for the reply.
We did try removing the optical drive.

maybe we can try this again. just to make sure.
as we found a few instances of this issue.

No matter what we do only 2 drives will show up.
in BIOS, Raid Manager, Windows 8.1, etc...

    RAID enabled or DISABLED

even a RC-216 RAID card will not show all drives.
2 possible, only getting 1 to show up...

What is with this board, it just will not allow raid or what?

Is it something to do with 1TB HDDs

    Problem solved.
the issue was with this product
SNT-SAC2131TL 2-bay 3-HDD Hot Swap Trayless backplane Raid Cage

it just did not play well with (3) 1TB drives and 780i
removed it from the board and all is working well...
