Hello EVGA Community. After talking to customer support I figured I would post here and see if anyone can help me out.

My situation is that I have 2 EVGA GTX 580s 3gb. 1 of them is in the normal temp range, however, the other is hitting 98 sometimes 99% C during games. I sometimes get occasional black screens, and my games freeze up. I use EVGA precision and have the fans maxed out completely and have cleaned the card multiple times. After talking to customer support, they have informed me that since my cards were purchased and bundled through a custom
computer company (cyber power pc), that my warrant is only one year. I am very bummed out about this because the sole reason why I chose EVGA was because of the reputation for fantastic customer support and warranty, but apparently my cards only came with a 1 year warranty. Does anyone have any advice on how to lower the temps on my 1 card before it frys?  In the future, I will never bundle an EVGA card with custom PC company since since I do not get the " standard EVGA Warranty" if I do this and was not aware of this at the time of my purchase. I am really disappointed because a good friend of mine who vouches for EVGA and recommends me to only buy EVGA because of the companies outstanding product quality, warranty, and customer support (which unfortunately when I bundled the cards through a customer computer website company, I do not get). Any suggestions to make this card cooler before it dies on me would be greatly appreciated because I do not have the funds to buy another card and was planning on having these last me a long time.

Thank You for taking the time to read this, and greetings EVGA forums!

Go purchase some non conductive Tim, and let's chat get out the thermal paste. It takes about 30 minutes, and then you should be back online. While you are at it, may as well swap the top card and bottom card position as well. This will give them both a chance to breath as it is probably the top card that is getting hot.

    Are they blower style coolers?

Yea - they are the stock coolers. The EVGA customers service rep suggested that I get an aftermarket cooler but I am not sure how much that would help or really how to install it. I am not that tech savy, and I am not very familiar on applying and reapplying thermal paste to a GPU... I'm sure I could find a video on how to do it I suppose . And yea I did swap the cards with no luck. In the future, I will never buy cards with a custom built PC again if I get ripped off on the warranty. Lesson learned the hard way I guess . I just hope that I do not end up killing my card when I do remove and re apply the thermal paste since I am not that familiar with the process . Thanks for the suggestion and help!

I think that people worldwide should be meet with some specific things characteristic for EVGA.
If they try to meet people with nice things, than people should know and bad things, example your case.
With ASUS you can buy card from someone on street they will look only warranty number and if card is not older than 3 years you will get replace but you must send to ASUS, not in your town or local service where you live. In any other situation you can deal with local service. Sometimes people think EVGA is good option for Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia same as for USA. That's not true and they should understand better. You should help and share your situation with other people. Because usually you will here from people from USA EVGA always because technical support. For some part of the world ASUS is EVGA and EVGA is as ASUS in USA or even worse. Even worse because with ASUS 1 year warrany not exist, that's discrimination of customers for them. Such number not exist in their administration as warranty even for RMA cards.

Example you bought legal EVGA cards and you have only 1 year warranty because extremely bad administration and politic in EVGA company. No other reason.
Their graphic cards are everywhere, they didn't try hard to explain that in some case warranty is 1 year, you will find always 3 year warranty,
5 years warranty, life time warranty, step-up, ...OK I bought card from EVGA Europe but what in next time I have 100e cheaper option from some source other, not EVGA Europe. People should be meet with such situation and if manufacturer from Taiwan will treat them better than from USA to choose them. Simple. People USA look own situation, I can tell same for ASUS in Europe. Maybe because of that EVGA and EVGA fans get so many critics in UK, Europe, Asia, etc... I don't know...

I'm glad because I heard your story, because maybe what If I tell someone bring me EVGA TITAN X.. I don't know where will he buy in Germany.
I can insist now, OK. But i didn't know before that, I bought my card in EVGA Europe only because they sell in that time. Now I must share with everybody I ever say that EVGA have better warranty about new moments and 1 year warranty discrimination if sellers are not on their list or I don't know what...

Vlada, shush, lol. This isn't a thread comparing EVGA to Asus.

Zero, I haven't pulled apart a reference cooler, but if I can think correct, this is how it should be: There is at most 5 screws holding the cooler into the card. It is really easy to switch out to an upgraded aftermarket cooler or just change the thermal material, which I suggest trying to change the thermal material. It takes maybe an hour with first time nervous hands.

On the back of the card, you will see 4 screws in a square pattern that have Springs on them. Those are the main screws to the cooler that hold it on. You remove those 4 and very gently twist the cooler a few mm to loosen any old thermal material. It doesn't take much force at all.

You have to be gentle, because there may be one more screw on the pci bracket holding the cooler to the PCB. If there is, remove it also. Gently lift the hest sink off the PCB, and look for the fan cable that is attached to the PCB and disconnect it.

Grab some coffee filters and rubbing alcohol, and put a drop of alcohol on the old thermal material. Let it sit for a few seconds to loosen the old stuff. Use the coffee filter to clean the old stuff off and the let it dry. Put new thermal material on the core, and use the edge of an old credit card to spread it evenly. Once that is done, connect the fan cable, and set the cooler on the table next to the PCB with the open cooler facing you. Turn the PCB, and lower it down enough to line up the screw holes, then set it down and tighten the screws.

That is it. It is scary at first, but once you do it once, it's like magic and addicting.

To be honest EVGA politic is funny now I see that. Before few months I thought I will buy cards, register on their site in 14 days, I will have 3 years warranty. Now I see that's asylum. People register same card 10 times, 5 different address they don't know before need to RMA,
1 years warranty for legal not B-Stock products, madness, nice little madness... coxless pair.
I see EVGA will replace ASUS place in my book... Because some things, very bad things I didn't know, who could imagine something like that.
That not exist in history of IT companies out from USA.
Now I must say Can you bring me one EVGA, but from EVGA Europe, I didn't look who is on their list today.
If ASUS do on same way where customer should go in Taipei or ASUS Europe, where?
Box should be reprinted, Warranty Period Depend of Place of Purchase, for more information look EVGA Partners Page.
