I just shifted my rig into a new case and decided to make use of the front case ports for USB 3.0, headphone & mic. I expected to have problems with the headphones but no worries at all, just plugged in to the HD Audio on the Sound Blaster Z card and it was all go straight away, however the UBS 3.0 plugs not so much. They are definitely UBS 3.0 outlets, and I've plugged into the USB 3.0 header on the motherboard (right next to where the HD LED, Power Switch etc plug in).. there is power going to the ports on the case - the little light on my USB stick lights up, but nothing comes up in windows, and nothing showing when I look at computer and see all the other drives. I tried several USB sticks and portable drives, all got power but none showed on windows. The header is enabled in the BIOS too. Any suggestions? I vaguely recall this being possibly being an issue a long time ago.. or maybe it was something else... anyway appreciate any help.

edit: just tried using rear plugs and USB 3.0 not working there either.. just power. Reinstalled ASMedia drivers, no change. Reinstalled chipset.. nope. wth...

Also disabled USB3 in bios, reboot, then enable again in bios, reboot, nope.

Tried enabling Marvell Sata Raid (saw that somewhere).. nope.

USB2.0 works fine, but that means case ports are out as case only has USB3.0 connector...

I wonder if USB3.0 has ever worked on this board????

Ok seems to be working now.. switched to diff bios switch, reset to defaults, flashed to 2.11 (was 2.09), restarted with defaults and USB 3.0 works - all of them!

Rebooted and set in all my old overclock, XMP etc. but left Marvell enabled, rebooted, everything good, USB 3.0 all working.

Went back into bios, disabled Marvell and enabled silent mode. Save & reboot, USB 3.0 still working! yay!

Wonder what will happen tomorrow after I power down overnight..

    fingers crossed...

It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly, I believe the USB 3.0 hub is tied to one of the network adapters on the Dark.  So if one (I forget which) is set to disabled, the 3.0 ports won't work...

    Otherwise, they should work fine.

    EDIT:  See post #6.

Thanks. Both network plugs were enabled. USB 3.0 all still working this morning so that's a good sign :)

It's tied to the Marvell SATA ports. If you disable them, you lose the  USB 3.0 ports.

Is that what it was/is?  Thanks for clarifying...

Oops, thought 2.11 was most recent.. stickied threads are a bit misleading. Thanks, will try it.

Strangely enough, my USB 3.0 ports are working with Marvell SATA disabled now.. but only since I flashed to 2.11 yesterday. Weirdness.
