Need new headphones, I owned a working hd 700 but it is no more, I was powering them with my zxr but that crapped out. The quality of the hd 700 was phenomenal and I need something similar. Been eyeing the hd 800 but at that price range I must have some options.

This is the best review of the SS HD 800 .  the review by

    Pros: Comfortable, detailed, big soundstage
Cons: Artificial sounding, anemic in the bass, can be too bright, overpriced

I have listened to the HD800 twice, and I never really warmed up to it. And to clarify, they were not casual listening sessions--I took my time and did the listening under the following condition: ----------On the This Link.

What kind of music do you listen to?  That will determine the recommendations you get.  Some headphones are best suited for R&B or Hip Hop, while others are best for Rock, and others still are best for classical or vocals.
