So my PC has been working for 3+ years or so without to many issues. Like normal, I left my computer on and running all night however when woke up to my PC was frozen. My monitors all were showing my desktop frozen so I thought ok; windows froze or something - this happens every once in a while - just power off and restart. So I held my power button down and the pc shut off. I then turned my power bar off and waited for a while to clear all power from my pc. I then booted up my pc, fans turned on and everything looked good but after a minute there was no beep.

I bent down and saw 4 post codes looping over and over again "68 02 EA 01". I turned off my PC, killed the power, tried again. Same thing.

I am really not sure what the issue is as it has been fine. The main issue I have is everything is water cooled so trying to access anything is near impossible without taking everything out. From what I can tell there was no precursor to this. I have not had a single freeze or hiccup in over 3 months.

I have read online and some people suggest taking out the CMOS battery and putting it back in. However, who ever created the posts says after doing so causes the computer boot up and down giving F8 and F6 errors...and so I don't really want to try that because I feel I may get the same thing. Everyone reports after getting the new F errors that the only way to solve it was by getting a new motherboard...which I can't afford...and on top of that, this is old tech.

So looking for some advice here, anything would help!!! Thanks!!!

    68 - Reserved
02 - Execution of POST routines in E000
EA - There is no EA.  There is a 3A - reserved
    01 - Reserved

Doesn't seem to be a hardware error.  This may just be a bios firmware hickup/corruption.  I suggest you clear the cmos with the clear cmos jumper/button, or remove the battery.  I don't know why you are squeamish about clearing the bios when you have water pumping through your computer.  I'd be more scared of that.  In any case..

If that doesn't work, reflash it with the original bios, http://cdn.evga.com/bios/E762_83.iso

Or you can update with modified bios which updates all firmware for the controllers(intel, j-micron raid, etc) as well.

Yours is E76283.bin, which you pop on a bootable usb with awdflash.exe and autoexe.bat(if you wish) with:
    @echo off
    cls

    awdflash bios.bin /py/sn/nvmac

I have never cleared my CMOS. Do I do that while my PC is running or while it has power but is not running?

So I cleared the CMOS by holding the button down for 3 seconds, while the computer was off. I then waited 10 seconds, pressed the on button and things are worse like I expected :(.

My computer turns on for about 2 seconds and then shuts down for 2 seconds...and it repeats until I kill the power. The post codes fly by, however it looks like its going "F3, F6, F8, F6, 68" and then it turns off.

So I am going to guess I need a new motherboard then eh?

I also made it edit to the main post, I can't really afford a new motherboard so I am really hoping this is not what I have to do.

Put one stick of ram only in the PC, disconnect all hard drives except the system hard drive. Reconnect the ATX power cable and CPU power cable, and reseat them. Reseat all other cables including those to any fan connectors such as the CPU fan.

Unless you see bulging or exploded capacitors on your motherboard, odds are it isn't fried.  You haven't even begun to fix it yet.  And you need to let the power drain for 5-10 minutes at least to clear the cmos and drain the motherboard.  Notice that red glow.  That's electricity still charging the caps.

Unplug the computer.  Take out the battery.  Let it sit.  Do as the post above says.  Re-seat your items.  Re-seat your power.  Take out all the ram except 1.  Try again.  If still no joy, then it may be bent pins on the CPU socket.  That happens when too much pressure is applied, or the box is kicked and the heat sink warps it with torque.  And if it's bent pins, we'll get to that later.

Its doing that because its trying to auto sense the voltages, timings, etc.... for cpu.ram etc.... so it cant or isn't getting a correct reading,or what it thinks is correct, and then sets up what it can and reboots. Those settings fail on the next boot so it trys again etc.... If you boot and can get into the bios, you need to manually setup everything in it. Unfortunately, I cant help you really with that part because I don't own a x58 so another guy that does/did will have to help you with that.

    I solve this problem,
when i did manage to get in cmos going in, Standard CMOS features and set Halt ON to (NO ERROR)
I cant tell what was causing this, but all work fine for me now, hope this will help someone.

Hi All, I have experienced similar issues with my X58 Classified, I followed the normal method of CMOS bettery replacement. (all power off, remove CMOS Battery, allow to sit for 15 Mins, with power off at PSU and new CMOS Battery installed, prior to boot, press power button to cycle any last dregs around).

After replacement of the CMOS Battery was performed, I also updated the BIOS to the latest possible on my system.

this cured part of my issue and had it running a little more reliably, having been in mothballs for a year it needed a bit of cajoling.

I've since noticed that I am still having strange stability errors even at low stock clocks, the symptoms seem to be thermal pads/paste on the NB/SB that needs refreshing after a decade of service.

You may want to look into that also once you have a handle on the basic boot issues and are back into a stable enough state.
