I was looking with high interest between two different full tower (maybe ultra tower) cases, and wondering which was the better bang for the buck between the two.  Those two being the NZXT Phantom 630, and the other being the Cooler Master HAF X.  It just seems that there's probably an equal amount of bells and whistles, and I'm sure this might have been asked before, but it seems that's a rather much of a headache to decide which IS the better one overall.  Just as long as it'll fit a GTX970 (if need be GTX980, if there's good bargains on them from time to time), and as long as it'll cool that along with other things, I'll be cool with that.

Don't think you can go wrong with either one really. depends on looks of it for self preference will prolly be final decision for you. I have the HAF X and can't really say a bad thing about it. There's plenty of room and circulation for any kind of setup in it.

Understood.  It's a very common headache for sure...and I've been searching all over Google for this, and it's probably one of the more asked questions when it comes to a gaming case for sure.

Well, at the very least the NZXT has fan filters, thats a huge plus. Im pretty sure the CM doesn't have any. I think the NZXT has the better, classy sort of look and a better combo of features. Whats your budget?!?!? Theres MANY better cases out there for that kind of money that your looking at already.

I usually like customizable cases, but between the two you have chosen, the NZXT may be the best option. The HAF case does allow for future expansion but I do not like it's overall looks.

Antec Eleven Hundred is my case, and I love it. Good fan Filters, plenty of room, great airflow, and it looks nice

Personally I don't stray from CoolerMaster HAF cases.

However it should really come down to.. is how many GPU's do you plan to employ.. and how many hard drives?

I have a HAF XM Case with 2-way 970 GTX FTW in SLI, 1 sound blaster recon 3D Sound card and my midtower case only has 2 more slots for expansion cards tied to my Z97 Maximus 7 Hero.

For hard drive bays.. I have 3 SSD's, Two Mechanical drives and I only have one more drive slot till I resort to using my XDoc (Which is dead and currently waiting on its replacement) or putting one of my SSD's behind my motherboard tray. Without that tho I only have one more hard drive bay.. I have the drive which is a 1.5TB drive but I refuse to put it in because I already have one 1TB drive and 1 2TB drive... I have more space than I do files... at this point.

If your going to run 6 or more drives or 3 or more GPU's go with a full tower. If your not.. go with a Mid tower.

My Cooler Master HALF 932 houses my 2-way SLI 780Ti Kingpins very nicely.  My HALF 932 is shorter in height but just as deep.
Both HALF cases are well built and keep my air cooled systems very happy; moving a lot of air quietly - no vacuum cleaners here to hear.
They are both lacking a little on the backside of the MB plate; so routing cables requires a plan.  No grommets and limited cable route by MB are also a little lacking

My current project I just got the Corsair Graphite Series 670T.  I have been really impressed by this case for features and build quality.

My 240mm radiator easily fit in the top (holds up to 360mm) and a up to a 280mm will also fit in the front.  (Bottom 120mm & back up to 140mm)

Not cheap @ $169.99, but there is/ was a rebate and Newegg offered free shipping.  Note Micro Center was cheaper - no shipping, but walk in only.

This is the backside to my HAF XM. Haven't had much time to play with cables lately tho but this is what I got thus far.

Apparently tho finding my case is near impossible..however the 932 is a nice alternative. My cousin had one and a friend of mine has the HAF X. Massive tower... all comes down to tho like I said, what you plan to do with it.

I decided long ago 2-Way SLi was my personal maximum for graphics.

SLI/Crossfire or not, ive pretty much decided that I will not own a case that's smaller than a full tower, like my Lian-LI, ever again. I actually enjoy working on my Lian-Li. Compared to all the mid cases ive fought with its a pleasure......not a cursing, cutting yourself, cant get your giant hand in the cramped spot, lost the screw in some crazy corner section fight fest, lol. When someone asks metobuild a custom for them and they start showing me the mid case they want, I just cringe inside. Not that I wouldn't do it, but I don't have to be happy doing it!!

Got that right.  I'm done with mid-towers myself, if I'm gonna build, it's gonna be the BIG boys in the case market!  So far, those still look like the two biggest bangs for the buck.  Certainly don't see the Phantom 820 being doable, as much better as those might be than anything, anything north of the $200 is just a waste.  Certainly anything in the $150 - $200 range is probably gonna cut the mustard.

EDIT:  Oh yes, I saw that the CM Stryker looks like it could be another solid case of sorts.  Although between the Stryker or the HAF X, that could be rather tough.
EDIT #2:  Looking again, it does seem that Newegg has lowered the prices of NZXT's flagship Phantom 820 to <$200.  Who knows?  Maybe this might come into play, after all.  Best to grab one whilst Newegg has these on sale.
