Hey guys. I just got my second 980 SC ACX 2.0 and have the same issues as with the first one. I have really loud coil whine and the fans make weird noises when increasing/decreasing the RPM's. kind of a howling :/
Does anyone experience the same issues? Could it be a bad batch, since i got the replacement card from the same shop?

I had the same problem with my GTX 980 FTW ACX 2.0, excessive coil whine and grinding noise when the fans reach (40%) about 1440 RPM. Ended up getting a replacement GTX 980 FTW.

i was thinking about getting myself the FTW version...but i don't like the fact that it only has 1 hdmi, 1 displayport and 1 dvi-d...well i guess if my 3rd card has the same issues i will try the FTW version, since it has a custom PCB. it does, right? :P

I think evga recommends running unigine benchmark for 24 hours. I know its annoying, it worked for one of 970s

Enable vSync, generally works but you have to sacrifice your FPS. It's not really a solution really though if you loose all your FPS. I personally just learned to live with the noise after awhile. Like people said on other forums, live with it, it's part of the performance.

sure, but it's really pi**ing me off when i buy a 600€ card and have a completely silent pc, except my most expensive part (gpu) makes this **** weird noise which i can hear through my closed side panel :/ and i won't use v-sync since i have a 144hz monitor and i want to have 144 fps while gaming. i don't get how no one of those youtubers that tested the cards, had a noticeable coil whine.....i had 4/4....

It should then sync to 144hz should it not? What is the Make and Model of your 144hz monitor?

I have gtx 980 ti ftw and i can clearly hear some howling at 34-37% fan speed. Its annoying. Is it very common issue? I have set afterburner to skip those areas and its okay now. Is this issue in every card with acx 2.0? Its not coil whine.

GPU coil whine can also be caused by the power supply or motherboard. If you keep getting replacement graphics cards and you keep hearing the noise then I would test with another power supply or in another system.

No this is not coil whine at all. I have had 2 other cards without any problems. This is 100% fan issue. When i stop fans spinning with my finger the noise is gone because speed drops below 34%. Some users maybe not complain that small howling and maybe dont notice it at all. My PSU is corsair rm650i. It should be good quality. I think its better keep on playing. There is still long warranty to use when problem gets more bad ( if it will).

You can either do what your doing now or get an RMA over the issue. If you got an RMA though you would get a refurbished card that may (or may not) have coil whine among other issues.

Oh really, refurbished card for replacement? Sounds bad, its better to keep this one when my problem seems to be so small. :)

I don't mean to scare you off... If you think it's an issue and it annoys you then get an RMA and hopefully your okay. I did an RMA twice and got iffy cards (coil whine), but other people claim they get cards that are fine. I just refused the second one I got that had coil whine. My first RMA had coil whine but it burned out for the most part and now it only comes out when I do certain things like 800fps on a loading screen.
