so i bought a EVGA 1600w  P2 like a week ago as i needed more power to run my newly acquired  gtx 780ti  that and a gtx 560ti + 10hdds/ssds as my old/aging 800w couldn't run them all at the same time and keeps shutting off when on load . anyways a week after i went out and got back home to a shutoff PC an when i ran it , it wouldn't reorganize all of its ram so i dag in and looked everywere and swapped ram sticks and such but the C1 dimm was not working so i pulled my CPU off to reseat it ((thinking i might ave knock it off or something when installing)) only to find that two of my pins where burnt out :S i ran the ram at stock speed of 2400mhz with stock voltage too ... cpu was OCed to a normal 4.3ghz with 1.280v so i dont think i was so hard on it :S what do you guys think ??

cpu=4930k
ram=hyperx beast 2400
MB=asus rampage iv F

PS: system is running normally but with only 24gb ram i didnt run it since as i didnt want to risk getting other components getting killed too ...

    Dear stivan,

    I am very sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your system.  I can however confirm that the power supply would not be responsible for causing a short between two pins located in your CPU socket.  I recommend looking into if it was a failure with the CPU, Motherboard, or possibly Memory in this scenario.

    I would also like to mention that if the power supply did detect a voltage issue with a connected component then it would shut down to protect your system.  If the power supply was shutting down then it is possible that a short with another component was occurring and the power supply was detecting it.

    Do you see some traces on bottom side of Processor?
    I think that it's not completely safe to run anymore CPU on board with two pins different color than others.
    Contact ASUS and explain them, they should check and replace you board.

    im sorry i forgot to add that this happened when i added an-LED strip to my system >> im made this thread to say that and i forgot ... anyways the LED was the cheap one and it came with a power brick that is 12V 2amp so i thought since this PSU has 132amps and so little to run i ran the strip from the 12v molex of the PSU and it ran fine and i like i said i went out and when i got back it was off and when i tried to run it , it would go on and off again and wouldnt post  so i unpluged the molex and it ran ONLY with the missing dimm . this is why i thought it might have been the PSU/LED that had a roll in it . and btw i reused the power brick on the LED and they are working just fine .
    another thing the MB had a problem with USB going on/off all the time for no reason even with all the USB plugged off so it might just be a bad MB im not sure at this point . anyways here is a link for the led strip that i got locally

    i see nothing out of the ordinary on the back . as for asus replacing it that would be my last choice as i live in Kuwait and we dont have asus dealers here and shipping is expensive so im trying my luck with the local dealer here as it is still under warranty of the local dealer that is 1 year .

    I would never continue to us such board on so good CPU. I only can say that, even if that pin from picture look it's not completely destroyed.
    Even on stock clock. Thanks god CPU is not damaged, that mean maybe and board is not damaged so much.
    But without live inspection and check with other memory stick I can't say nothing, that's big risk.
    Special because ASUS is not known as generous when decide about hardware with visible damage.

    The best that I can tell you is that this sounds like a coincidence to me and likely something else was already having a problem or short.

    thats the problem it just might be the CPU it self thats made the problem im not sure coz in the bios i can read the ram stick when i open SPD info so that tells me the MB traces are working fine it just not connected to the cpu anymore to show up in windows.. im not sure anymore man and IF and its a fat IF i get another MB i dont want to risk trying a potential damaged cpu on it too :S

    ok so the system is up and running now and i did a bit of OC and got to 4.5ghz with 1.250v dead . and its running fine but now i can hear coil whine coming from the PSU :S its very faint but annoying nevertheless !! do you think its an-option in the CPU power saving mode or something ?? this is my day one OC and i did NOTHING but go with x45 and 1.25v  and every thing else is on auto and i didnt even try to lower the V or go higher with speed as its now 5:20am and im all but out of it at this point QQ .. anyways feedbacks would be gr8 thanks .

    The coil whine will probably stop over time, If not you could request a RMA. I see people all the time asking for RMA for coil whine on GPU.

    The coil whine will probably stop over time, If not you could request a RMA. I see people all the time asking for RMA for coil whine on GPU.

    well ever since yesterday i did play with the power phases ((as the sound was clearly from there OR from the fans as the cable hole is RIGHT above it)) anyways its gone-ISH now and i did a 5 + hour stability test with AIDA64 and the Vcore was SOLID at 1.250v all the way and so was the 12v+5v+3.3v the heat was under 60c in gigabyte app and the max core in HWmonitor was 77 but only saw it once and it got back to 71 again the very next one was 71 and the others ranged from 67to60c max . the MB temps as in all the other temps never got above 40c and the OC that i ended up with is 4.5ghz @1.25v and for the ram up from 2133 to [link=mailto:2666@1.35v]2666@1.35v[/link]  and so far im happy BUT i think the USB hub on my case is busted somehow coz its getting disconnected on/off just like the asus x79 ... but other than that i think i'm all good for now . thank god QQ .

    so i just replaced my entire system setup i went for x99 GB G1 with 5820k and 16gb of ram . i owe allot of money now ... anyways lets hope that the PSU was not to blame here i am going with a brand new parts here .

    I have for X99 and I will need to borrow for graphic card if I think to play games once again.
    It's not fair to gave up from planned X99 platform because need for graphic.

    so i have everything setup as of now ((thank god)) i did a small OC i was lucky to hit 1.25v on vcore from the first time ^^ and at that vcore i hit a wall of 4.5Ghz ((more than i thought i would get)) so i think that the 1.25v IS the least about needed for 4.5ghz speed ((or can i go lower ?)) anyways for now im happy the temps are very very good with my NHD-14 im getting low high 60s low 70s and on HWmonitor im getting 75ish on package so i think im good to go now i did some ADIA64 stability testing (( only got 3 hours )) two times now and due to windows not being activated ((new MB/CPU >>)) im going to do another 10hours + today when i go to sleep as i did fix the activation problem. anyways everything looks fine and i even got better 12v 5v results than the x79 that i had somehow this one kept those at a tight 12v+5v they can drop as low as ,050v but thats it . thanks for all of you for now ^^
