    Jokes get really funny now...

As I said before, I will wait for a 980ti (hopefully) or 390x. Titan X probably a 1k+ card that has a bunch of features I and most people will never use.

Hopefully the 980ti will be 6gb (8gb would be glorious) and the same core with just DPP restricted.

EVGA should only to replace bracket.
High Flow bracket as on GTX580 look much better than this type.
I would kill for Signature Superclocked model.

Official Nvidia pre announcement by CEO

Nvidia just surprised us all by spontaneously announcing the Titan X at a press conference hosted by Epic.

Today at a session on the Unreal Engine at GDC, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney was casually talking about the need for more power for photo realism, especially virtual reality, when he was interrupted by a sudden thud from the back of the room. It was Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang who surprised everyone by announcing the Titan X.
At this time, not much is known about the Titan X, mainly because this is nothing more than a pre-announcement. Among the details revealed is that the card took several thousand man-hours to create, is based on the latest Maxwell architecture, and that it packs a staggering 8 billion transistors. It also features a jaw-dropping 12 GB frame buffer -- impressive for a single-GPU graphics card.

dual SLI connectors on the card means you can quad SLI these for 48gb of VRAM!

*Drools* "because I am one of those that uses every feature the card offers with my modeling/rendering/cuda/physx tools" But I wont pay 1k plus for it, Ill wait until I can snag one for 400-500.

A lot of people are waiting for DX12 and the dream that it will pool VRAM. so 12gbx4cards=48gb, but that is all rumors and dreams.

Depends on what AMD does, but there may not be a GTX989Ti. The next few months will show if this is even a possibility.

OR still more power needed for 4k?.
Titan-X will be approximately 50% more powerful than GTX980 (50% more CUDA at around the same clock with 50% more bandwidth), so treat any 3-way GTX980 result as having a pair of Titan-X's, except the higher Vram buffer could allow higher textures.

Whether it ends up fluid or not will depend on your expectations along with your games.  But I think DX12 has a better chance of allowing fluid gameplay than any graphics technology at this point, mainly as you don't have to upgrade your hardware outside of getting Windows 10 this summer.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

Im praying that the 390x beats the 980 by 20-30% and cheaper forcing Nvidia to release a 980ti that is 50+% higher than a 980. Which would hopefully be a titan with 6gb and all the titan features cut out. Put the price at 700 and I think it will sell.

Yes but if they cut only 10 CUDA that is not interesting than.
But 6GB memory is enough. I can bet Crysis 3, Far Cry 4 and all new games are smooth on GM200.
No doubt that will be nice graphic chip.

Far Cry 4 runs very smooth on my GTX 970 (Ultra settings at 1080p). No need to spend $1000+ on a card for those games.

Titan-X will already be 50% ahead of GTX980, might as well rebrand Titan-X as "980Ti" and debut it cheaper, but that isn't the plan.  I think we're guaranteed 390X will be 20-30% ahead of GTX980-- if it were debuted at the same price, then nVidia to drop prices in order to debut something else between GTX980 and Titan-X.  But if Fijit debuted expensive, maybe not.

Thats my point. Have the titan x and 980ti mimic the titan black and 780ti. Exactly the same beside features and vram. Im pretty sure the 390x will come in faster and cheaper than the 980. But by how much is the question.

Also I hate when people categorize titans as gamer gpu lets face it they are entry proffessional cards.

Knight I havent had any issues with SLI and your the first I have seen mention it. Anyone else having issues I am not seeing?

Who want's to wager Nvidia comes out with the announcement of the 980ti release date at their convention in a few days ? The marketplace isn't ready for a $1000.00+ gpu right now and I think the green team knows it.
-I'd bet the house the TI comes out before the Titan does.

Why would they release the "980ti" with a completely different gpu? It will be at nearly the 8-9 month mark when amd even tries to do anything, it would seem, so why not move into the next series. 780 gk110.. 780ti gk110. 980 gm204 To 980ti gm200/210? At this point, it would make more since to release a single gpu 990 that would destroy AMD to replace the dual gpu line for lower cost than a dual gpu option of the past, at the same price at the same cost of the old dual gpus.

Either way, looking at the records, the 700 series was completely different than most other previous line ups. It was interesting and it would seem that the 900 isn't going to follow suit just yet, but could in a moments notice.

It's all speculation until AMD gets off their butt, but it would seem they are tak in ng their time in an attempt to do something amazing rather than rushing a quick fix out. I like that idea, and hopefully they learn something new and release something awesome, even if NVIDIA makes an immediate release to undermine them. I would actually consider purchasing one just to keep a little variety in home.

AMD is targeting June release of 390, only 3 months as oppsed to 8-9 months like you suggested. This puts pressure on Nvidia to make a contender sooner than later. Since AMD doesnt have another dual-gpu planned, there isnt as much of a rush for Nvidia. Though Maxwells price to performance is very suited for a dual gpu option.

The 980s gm204 isnt cut down so they cant make an improved 980 series based off of gm204. So they have to base it off a new design (hinting at gm200).

I agree that the 700 series is very unique and we cant judge sthe future of nvidia card off them.

I will be purchasing a 390x just to benchmark.

First: read NVIDIA launch led the 980 8-9 months ago, where amd launched the 290x how long ago? I wasn't saying amd was launching in 8-9 months.

Second, I know the gm204 is at its full capacity, which I why I am curious why they would ever release something with a completely different gpu core (see gm200/210) and then name it nearly the same thing. Like I mentioned, gk110 was 780 and 780ti. They didn't release the 780 gk110 and then 780ti gk110, so it would make sense to either start this year's release as a completely different name or make a 990 single card that can outperform most dual gpu configurations, but still fall behind the Titan X, which will be more of a production card anyway.

Either way, I will standby patiwntly, instead of doing like some of the goofball out there, and NOT freak out about anything that hasn't been announced. The price and performance are both just skeptical speculation and it will be so close to the 12 month mark after the release of the 390x, that NVIDIA could push with the 2015 high end game specific flagship rather than a production card that everyone wants to use for gaming instead.

Ah sorry misread. Wife has taken over the computer today to play LoL and Im on a phone. Daughter had tablet....

I will wait patiently also see how it all plays out. Though in my dreams the titan x is 700ish dollars and replaces the x80ti variant. Then I can have both a gaming gpu and a working gpu for the minimal times i mess around with 3d rendering.

Yes but GTX970 is to weak for me and buying card with less than 4GB is not option at all same as crippled chips on any way.
Minimum if someone buy card and want textures on high is 4GB. I should bought Titan Black when I get chance, I would play now last games with 6GB.

Depends on what AMD does, but there may not be a GTX989Ti. The next few months will show if this is even a possibility.
Im praying that the 390x beats the 980 by 20-30% and cheaper forcing Nvidia to release a 980ti that is 50+% higher than a 980. Which would hopefully be a titan with 6gb and all the titan features cut out. Put the price at 700 and I think it will sell.

Yes but rebranding it as a 980Ti means no logical processing cores for those of us who need them... the real audience of the card and what the Titan was originally meant for. Since the 980 has all cuda cores, but since the die shrink didn't happen on the GTX 980, I see a 980 TI in the future depending on what AMD brings to the table. It just means they will put enough into the 980 TI with the smaller shrink, faster frequencies due to it not having the logical processing cores aka extra heat and power needs for gamers, and just below the vram amount of the Titan X to keep its price justified. But yeah your right the next card depending on what AMD does come out with will be some place between a 980 and a Titan X from nvidia.
