Depends what you do with your memory and cache.  The voltage results came up about the same with both clocks.

What about actual performance gains? I would think jacking up the BCLK would yield better performance then just jacking up the multi? If you OC the BCLK, does that effect the PCI-E lanes and Graphics cards? Or does that just directly effect, RAM and the CPU?

Well I must admit I was seriously considering switching boards, but after LOTS of reading, which never hurts anyway, trial and error, emails, phone calls, lots of nail biting and hair pulling... when I finally

found the voltages that seem to play together so far. I've gotten it to 4.2 stable 4.5 not yet, but haven't gotten higher yet as I just got an Asus 980 Strix. So far not as good or quiet as my 980 SC ACX

but with 2 480 rads with 4 107 cfm fans per rad I should be alright. the ek gold block is pretty sweet, while running Heaven 4.0 and then right after running Valley and cpu struggled to get to 30c under

load. It'll go up a fair bit with a gpu added but I'm just looking for a universal block to try a pr of 670 ftws atm.

I haven't gotten a block for either yet, but am seriously considering it.

Yesterday for some reason my raid 0 failed, wouldn't even boot to bios at 1st. After stress testing, re installing windows, everything is working good and with a bit more tweaking here and there it should

be even better. Thanks for the help so far. Still pretty new to ocing so it was a new experience...

For me, I started adjusting offset to lower the voltage a bit. Still playing around a bit, put Vin to 1.85-1.9, offset I adjusted to make the oc more stable. I haven't been able to get past 4.65 with a 5960, so that seems inline with a lot of results I've seen.
I'm just a novice, so take what you can and do so with extreme caution. I don't want to be the cause of frying that thing. Read read read, then try very small adjustments.

I hope that helps a bit. If you find something else works, plz let us know

It boots up on at 4.65 and 4.7 but when I start running any benchmark like prime95, 3DMark, Heavenbenchmark,  Cinebench and Aida64 they all lock up. 4.53 to 4.54 seem to be the sweet spot for the 5930K.  Should I change up the BLCK?

Hey guys a quick tip here,

I manged to hit 4.45ghz by using the XMP2 profile and just increasing the multipiler (set to 35). Bclk is set to 127.34mhz. Everything else was left on auto. My board just increased voltage as I increased the multiplier. I tried to go higher but my temps arent helping at all. I'm running 100% stable btw. Specs on sig (need to change the clocks).

I would cautiously give it a tiny bit more voltage. Try the offset 1st, 5-10 at a time, not much. Sometimes reducing the voltage slightly works as well.

I've also found reducing the vcore slightly, then increasing the uncore and/or the offset helps. Trial and error for me, but having fun doing it.

Trying to get it to 4.75, buddy is at 4.74 hehehe. Friendly competition... Only got to 4.65 so far but have reduced the voltages enough to feel a bit more comfortable about the oc. and the possibility of using that to increase the oc.

GLBTW.

what do mean you try the offset at 5-10? Should I place the value of 5 or 10 on the offset?

Well i'm not too sure what is good, but I've usually set the offset between 15 -25 on average. I have increased it as high as 090 but don't recall how that went. 50-60 worked b4.

If my oc shows less than it should it may just need a few mv more or less at times. It's been trial and error for me, and the fellow who mentioned leaving the multiplier at 127.34 hasn't gotten me high enough yet, though I am going to try increasing the offset then decreasing it to try it. Reading a lot on this and these people have helped me get it a bit higher already, let alone start to understand the bios.
A bit lower voltage, 1.369 gives me 4.662, offset 15, if I remember correctly. This is where I'm not certain where or what to adjust, everything else is auto except V Droop, disabled.

core 1.25  offset 119  15 for the other offset. I haven't tried the ring voltage, and haven't even looked at cache either. Looking at trying the higher offset, but reading a bit 1st.

Well I sent my board in for a step up to the Classified so that's not possible, sorry.
Been busy, had I noticed this I would've done so.

I can hardly wait to try that board. I think my slot 1 was stuck at x8 in sli.
 Still got some decent results.

Got a pr of 670 ftws on water that really rock as well as a 980 and 970. Couldn't post a link though.

Yeah, I don't know about that processor but those settings sound fine. If you have CPU Z, run it and check the voltage being drawn. I've found some of those voltages are a rough starting point for some overclocking.
I've been able to get 1.261volts for 4.5 ghz. Most of the results will vary somewhat. Cooling is what allows me to get the voltages down, watercooled.

I haven't put my waterblock on the new kingpin yet, back just won't co operate today, but I managed to hook up the 670s to this board and so far got some amazing results, as high as 7076 on the memory and 1176 on the core with the high temp of 26 C under load. 1174/7076 in sli no less. Best pr for ASIC I've had, though my kpe ti's were 77 and 79 %. Absolutely awesome cards btw !!!

Okay, while I have been able to get 4.8 Ghz on my classy, it takes way too much voltage imho.

Can someone give me an idea on lowering this a bit. Only adjusting the vcore uncore and vsa.

I can now run 4.5 @ 1.26 v and 4.6 @ 1.3.  4.7 takes 1.375, and 4.8 needs 1.433 v.

Can't post a link. I just noticed that the 4th ram stick ins't showing up in that result. Hmmmm

How about X7608 for 3DMark 11 extreme? That's only @ 4.442 I believe. Liquid cooling, distilled water, lots of high cfm fans, 107cfm/fan, 4 fans/rad 2 480 rads. Oh and a big custom reservoir.

That's at idle. When benching either 58-59 or 68-69 if I remember correctly. Well within the thermal limit

Going to try some lower vcore and jump up the vsa a bit. I wouldn't mind getting to 5 ghz but with lower voltages or at least no higher than I've already gone.

Suggestions?

I am now off the BIOS thread and on the O/C thread. So, not off topic.

I am steady @ 4.6GHZ running the following: As above with Samsung 850Pro 512GB SSD.
EVGA 1300 G2 PSU, Corsair Dominator Platinum 16 GB @ 2811 MHZ (XMP Profile 2).
Corsair H80i cooler. CPU 3rd Core (the warmest one) @ 38C. 2 GTX 970's in SLI.

Okay, nice setup. If I could suggest one thing it would be to buy some aftermarket fans for the cooler. I have a H80i with gelid fans, low noise, twice the cfm( air movement) that I can run my 3960 up to

5 ghz, no problems. Cooling is BIG...

I need help with the ring voltage. Not sure what range, read about .4v lower than the core. 1.25 max??? It shows as 1.050 approx in the bios in idle of course.

Here's my validation for my 5960 @1.261v for 4.5 Ghz.

Suddenly can't seem to attach an image...

Holy moly dude !  What the heck, you own a bank???

Now that is a sweet setup. I haven't had the pleasure of trying a hydro copper yet.

As for rig mods, I don't bother, it changes all of the time, there are many better rigs than mine that I would feel out of place.

Here's what I'm using today. Tomorrow may change, looking at a pr of M2 for raid 0. Not sure yet, still not sure if they will go raid 0 yet. Just about to look that up actually.

 Intel 5960  EVGA X99 Classified Kingston Hyper X DDR4 2800 mhz quad channel 16gbs

Intel series 530 120gb in raid 0. WD 500gb Raptor drive  WD Black 1tb.  Kingston E50 240gb SSD

EK gold cpu block. D5 Vario with the 200mm tube res. 2 480 rads, each with 4 107 cfm fans/rad. Currently the 980 Strix with EK Acetal Nickel while waiting for the kpe block.

Corsair AX1200 Lian Li PC V2120. All fans are aftermarket 6 in all, 1 for the gpu, 140mm 122 cfms.

You must own the top of the 3DMark scores with that!!!

NOT EVEN the top 10. But at least in the Top 100. Hall of Fame is what they call it.
K|NGP|N Is Number One

http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/3980862/fs/4205056  K|NGP|N is more than 10,000 higher than my score.
And look at his CPU Maximum turbo core clock 5,868 MHz and I am only at 4,888 MHz

Wow no kidding. I'm just happy to beat my best scores, not knowledgeable enough to compete for those top numbers.

Considering I'm still stumbling around, no software training, I thought I was doing pretty good.

My issues are the ring voltages, and modding my gpu's bios. Back to reading some more. I can't seem to get my bios posted for modding. Asus 980 Strix, still waiting for my block for the kpe...

Any tips for a stumbler like me?  I have gotten the gpu to 1509/8528 on stock, with the switches on of course. A friend is going to bump my voltage to 475w.

Lots of cooling on that one, besides the water, extra fans.

My system seems to need a little extra volts just at boot up, not when running overclocked.  Any Ideas on what to change to increase boot up stability jet keep stocks volts?
