I got my first evga board the z97 stinger wifi.
Overclocked my Pentium G3258 to 4.4hz. Voltage at Override 1.165, offest +10. Vring at Override 1.190, offset +10.
Every time when I switch from Override to Adaptive mode with the exact same number dialed in.  I can't boot the system.  I have to clean cmos and reset otherwise it would stuck into a reboot cycle forever.

I already updated to the latest bios.

Can anyone explain more in-depth on Adaptive mode?  The only thing I know about this function is that it would provide lower voltage when the system is not highly loaded.  Is this correct?

I'm not positive what adaptive mode does but I can tell you that if what you say is correct(That it provides lower voltage when not under load) that is NOT something you want to use if you're overclocking. Overclocking is generally very dependent on stable voltage, even when the CPU isn't under load. So I'd not worry about adaptive mode and just leave it on override.

Thanks for the feedback.  After some research.
I think that's what adaptive mode supposed to do.  And you are right on overclocking when on the edge of minimal voltage.
I will try to play with the override mode + offset value to see if I can lower the voltage.

In the x99 motherboard section Jacbob has an over clock guide. it's the same as z97 motherboard that explains the settings.

Thanks, I already saw that long ago.  I just didnt understand why I would still have an option to set CPU Voltage target on adaptive
