HAZMAN_THE_GREAT
Man I hate start trek so much!! I dont understand why people like that cheesy crap. But its sad to see a life go. It just upsets me that people feel more remorse for a celebrity dying than their own neighbor across the street.   Its so weird how people feel as if they know and have had a relationship with that celeb but even though they have not meet them in real life.

I have meet Mr. Nimoy 2 Times over my lifetime.
Mr. Nimoy is more than just the character Spock but is also best know for this character, but also his Character Voice is also well known.

It is Really Sad and Very Disrespectful HAZMAN_THE_GREAT that you even Posted to this Thread, I do not have the word to express my feelings towards you. Disrespect to a Man's Legacy is the same as Disrespecting the Man.

And you have now Hijacked this Thread.

His presence certainly affected many people. It's been a long time since I have seen so much social internet response regarding an actor's death.

Nah, Robin Williams almost broke the internet around 6 months ago with his tragic passing.

I was just starting season 3 of the original series.  Loved him.  He was the personification of sci-fi that defined the genre.  RIP Mr Nimoy, you WILL be missed.

edit:
Lets not hijack the thread with hazman... not everyone loves sci-fi.  You dont have to jump down someone throat cause they bash the show.  I don't agree with him cause I like the show but hey, everyone has their likes and dislikes.  He feels as strongly against Trekkie's like i feel about the people that lined up at 4 am @ a theater days before a new star wars movie came out dressed as a wookie or vadar.

I normally don't think about celebrities all that much, but Leonard Nimoy and Spock were one of a kind...

I did not disrespect him whatsoever. And again yes I do not like star trek LOL. But it is still sad to see a life go away from this Earth no doubt in my mind. But my point from that post is not to bash star trek, but to tell you people to stop worshiping these celebs as if they are Gods or as if you personally know them. There is a symbolic meaning why people call celebrities "Stars". Again it upsets me that people care about and love celebs more than their own neighbors across the street.

The original Star Trek taught ethics and values back in a decade that had more goings on...

Star Trek was more than cheesy props and red shirts getting blasted every 5mins. And some wonder why Nimoy and Trek has as much reach as it dose, it's just common sense,  but I guess some didn't catch that episode....

Very much so:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLOZxOo5Czo
It was fundamental to the civil rights movements.  Dr Martin Luther King met with LT Uhura when she wanted to leave, and King wasn't having it.  Star Trek showed a world where everyone was treated equally.  She was 4th in command of the Enterprise in a world where African Americans were only allowed to play servants.

Love the show or hate it, it helped change the world.

Very weird how I feel about someone who I did not personally know. My dad was stationed overseas so we missed the start of Star Trek on TV. Used to watch the reruns at 4 p.m. at the end of a long day of classes in college.

RIP. I wasn't a big fan of Star Trek either, but it was still a huge part of my childhood, he's an icon the world over, and I'm not a total dbag.
