Make sure that you do have the proper CPU power cable connected and inserted fully. Reseat the ATX motherboard cable as well

also check cpu cooler / heatsink, make sure its not got to much pressure on it, can cause pins to loose contact

Thanks Xman!

Sorry,  have been away a bit, had an unexpected trip to the IR / ICU for a few days, back at home now still a little radioactive and taking heavy antibiotics /seems I had a bit of pneumonia. Although they put me through the wringer just to pad the bill I guess, but feeling a little better today.

I had planned to follow up on this issue for others as a heads up mostly because I see it happen so much. This is a very common problem, especially with newer socket Intel CPU and the AMD AM3+ heat sink mounts.  I have had more than a few friends and customers with this very issue. Some who have tightened them down to the point of breaking signal traces. More than a few who do not realize that evenly distributed pressure with compensation for this pressure under temperature changes and a correct application of a high quality TIM is the most important process when installing any heat sink, cooler block or any other type of processor thermal control. And if over-clocking is your plan, pressure should only be adjusted when the system is up, and running under load / first thermal testing as the TIM is up to temp. The Corsair H series are a great cost effective water cooling application for easy moderate to high over-clocking. But like all others very easily over tightened which can cause the problems of C post codes as well as FF's as seen above (and as warned in the instruction manuals). The H110 AM3+ mounting solution has always confused me as to why such a flimsy backplate (understandable if anyone has tried to remove one) was included instead of including hardware to use the beefy ones included with most new high end AMD boards. The new H105 AMD mount has this hardware and seems to be a much better solution and was hoping to see it implemented on the new H110i GT 280 (I personally love this one an plan to get one very soon) which has a great Intel mount, new radiator and much better SP fans included, but again we see the clip on hangers as on other H series coolers for the AM3 boards dependent on the plastic AMD clip on mounts that vary by board supplier. I have found a simple solution for the H110 AM3 that may be applicable to other AMD mounts using some of the supplied Intel mounting hardware. I had planned to post an instructional on the H110 AM3 alternative that involves only a 4mm speed tap (most AMD backplates are secured with M3.5 or 6-32 screws?) and a Phobya M4 universal CPU mounting kit. Pictured below. (easy to figure out)

this is also very handy for modding 3mm case screws to 4mm

Over-tightening is still possible but I have found this to be a much better solution for even thermal dispensation. With the advent of the new GPU coolers adapters becoming available like the HG10 N780 and thermal vram plates the future of cost efficient easy do it yourself GPU water cooling is also going to be awesome. With the need for full cover water blocks a thing of the past? With lots of cases with dual 280mm radiator support becoming available, even a self contained SLI 280mm GPU water cooling package could be right around the corner for the easy install do it yourself enthusiasts? Corsair? you hear me?

highly unlikely, but,

try taking a look at this

http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59394

remove the heatsink, reaaplly the TIM and reinstall, evenly tighten by hand the mounting screws and see if the problem has been solved, if not. Start a new thread, and we will start from there and find out what is the problem.

Hi guys , after removing the heatsink and applied a new TIM the problem seems solved , 3 out of 5 times when the PC C appears on the display board and I have to turn off and on several times for it to restart correttamente.Avvolte power cycling the power supply Corsair AX 850 gold and waiting for the capacitors are discharged then the PC starts regularly .... what can I do to fix the problem permanently ?

Yup the C error has something to do with the socket and processor. I had the issue back when i had the FTW, had to send it in for replacement cause i couldn't fix it.

I tried another power supply and the problem persists ... I realize that in addition to the C code the green light pci exspress where the video card is mounted flashes

Maybe back the cpu heatsink off a little and see if that helps. Did you check for bent pins in the socket when you took it apart? Are you sure the 4/8 pin eps 12v plug is in all the way? As far as the over tightening goes, EVGA's SC cooler has a good setup where the screws stop at a certain point and that's it, you just cant over tighten. It seems to be set to the perfect amount of pressure cause it works well with contact and spreads the tim evenly and thoroughly.

When using an H100 I never tighten the screws excessively and I only tighten them with "two fingers only" so that I can't apply too much pressure.

I doubt the H100 is giving you problems as you've described.
