I am having issues with a EVGA GTX 780 Copper.

the last 3 driver updates fail through G force experience.

Solo driver installs fail.

I can force a driver update through device manager/update driver once i extract the driver doing a solo Nvidia driver install

I actually have 2 GTX 780's on hand as I Cross Rma'd the first one. They are water cooled.. so swapping back and forth is not really a fun option.

BOTH exhibit the same problem, which makes me believe the problem is somewhere else..

My power supply has 6 virtual 12v rails. will this matter in the plugs to the GPU? I have seen the rail diagram. but it doesn't actually way which "plugs" go to which rail so I am kinda lost there.

I get driver crashes in about 10-16 hours of BF4. and 30 min-hour of Titanfall.

kinda lost looking at power supply, or maybe Mobo as the problem..

My OS is installed to a 256 Intel SSD, with all libraries remapped to a 2TB HDD

Any help is appreciated.

Post a link to your PSU. To fix your GPU driver issues do the following...

#1 Clean out GPU drivers using DDU.

#2 Perform a clean installation of video drivers.
    1. Uninstall Precision X/Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked.  Reboot the PC now if you had to uninstall PX or Afterburner.
    2. Download & save graphics driver 347.52 to your desktop. Run the graphics installer located on your desktop once the download is complete.
    3. Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except the physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.
#3 Report back if you're still having issues.

I will do that now. I have done DDu with both cards, but not removed precision X so I will give that a try.

Try using system restore to restore your computer back to a date that would allow you to update the driver without any issues.

Which driver were you running when you first noticed you couldn't update your drivers and had to manually install the driver through device manager?

It has been a issue for 3 releases now. Ironically. the latest one installed fine through windows update. But when i received the new card from RMA. I did a driver wipe and the issue persisted.

Ok, so the last driver you were successfully able to install was driver 344.75. Try installing it cleanly and let me know what happens...
    1. Download & save graphics driver 344.75 to your desktop. Run the graphics installer located on your desktop once the download is complete.
    2. Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except the physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.

Take a screenshot of the error you receive if you receive one and post it here into the thread.

I'm going to have to reboot, and give you the SS since the install failed it wont let me run it again.. its just the nVidia read out of processes after install. I will do it though, since i know sometimes you can deal with someone who isn't doing exactly what you say, and I appreciate your time spent. on a side note.. as I am  trying to think of what could cause this problem... "trusted installer" on file and folder security.. I am wondering if my split drives caused this issue. shouldn't trusted installer have write permissions to windows dir? rebooting..

Yes, trusted installer should have permission.

My "trusted installer" only has list folder contents, and a grayed out special permissions.

can you verify your security settings for trusted installer... I am on win 7 64..

I am referring to the windows Dir. as I assume that's where Nvidia is installing drivers to.

Type services.msc into start and hit enter, search for Windows Management Instrumentation, is the service set to automatic and it's status set to started?

ok thanks for that. I was thinking it should list trusted installer as full control or at least write.

But its all there buried in special permissions.  couldn't have been that simple :(
Btw I am thinking of going back to this 800x600 permantly its a gem.

    Check these settings for me...

Click start, type mmc gpedit.msc into the search box, then hit enter. In the tree, double-click Computer Configuration to open it. Then open Administrative Templates, open System, open Device Installation. Make sure all the settings are set to not configured like so...

I believe... this is disabled because the first time I had driver problems was because and I hope I explain this clearly...
When updating a Nvidia driver, after 244.75 I believe.. Windows would inturrupt the Nvidia install by trying to install its own driver.. if that makes sense..

So i installed the driver  manually through Device manager, which has always worked.
then I Ran the .exe over with a clean install.. and the original issue is back.

where windows inturupts the Nvidia install process installing Standard VGA- graphics adapter. causing the Nvidia install the stop.
