Looking at the Corsair Carbide Air 540 ATX cube case.. anyone using one? [link1] [link2]  ..they come in black, silver, or white. Quite like the white one.

I've been using a MountainMods for years, but I don't think I'll be running custom loops any more, just the Corsair closed loop for the CPU, so really I don't need the MountainMods case, and I like a few features of the more commercial cases like quick release drives, cable management, ease of access etc.. The Carbide Air 540 is a little smaller too, at 16.3"H x 13"W x 18"D (the MountainMods case is an 18" cube). Reviews seem pretty good. Any thoughts?

If you have alternative suggestions, just a heads up that I prefer to avoid the more traditional dimension cases like the HAF-X dimensions (which my wife uses) or the more recent Corsair Graphite 780T, which is a bit of a monster at 23.7"H x 11.3"W x 25"D.

There are several people on the forum which have these cases and I've seen no negative comments on them. I have the 780T monster myself but it's the best case I've had to date. Lots of room.

Thanks. I see the white one on Amazon right now for $119 and free shipping (Amazon Prime).. think I might just do it. Only thing I don't like so much are the openings at the bottom where the hotswap drives go.. might have to make some sort of flat plate to go over that, since I'll likely only be using SSD's from now on (recently got a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO on special, and have a couple of Intel 520 SSDs already) and maybe one mech drive...

    Still would welcome comments.

I love this case myself. Ive actually fought with not buying it so many times to use for a newer itx build to play with. I think its setup really well and the partitioning of the mobo from the psu etc... is a great setup for air cooling. It has ,a much preferred by me, understated classy look and you just cant go wrong with white/black in any combo. For 119 you can def end up with waaayyyy worse cases. Believe me, ive used them, lol.

Ikr? $119 is an excellent price for this case.. I was expecting $200 at least. Also ordered some individually sleeved white modular cables for my AX1200 psu for this build.. apparently I got the last set they had in stock at Corsair. Seems like it was meant to be.

I have had the "artic white" one for about a month. The only complaint I have so far is the open area on the case bottom.Took the two drive sleds out and now I have x4 areas that are about 2" x 6" that are open. There are x2 wide strips of metal that I am thinking of hitting with my dremel which would open her up for a couple more fans.Have not done so as of yet due to considering a custom loop.Overall this is my favorite case so far...such good airflow hence the name.EDIT:I paid $149.00 with my Amazon prime,@ $119.00 it's a great bargain,I think you will really like this case.

That's the one thing I didn't like either, but I've seen some mods for this case where they just put a flat cover over this area, so perhaps I'll try that.

Check this out for a beautiful mod:

That custom looped rig is gorgeous!I think I am going to open up the bottom with my dremel and add my two leftover "nzxt fans" from my Kraken cooler.I have Corsair fans throughout my case and why not pull from the bottom as well.I tried to make a build log but pics came out terrible,I just picked up a camera so maybe some pics of the bottom of case for future 540 builders.

Damn this would be nice.. http://www.coldzero.eu/lightboxes/1763-corsair-air540-lightbox.html  but not available in US that I have found yet.

    ..or this http://www.coldzero.eu/midplates/1777-corsair-air-540-midplate-clear-rev2.html

Thread at overclock.net http://www.overclock.net/t/1404897/official-corsair-carbide-air-540-owners-club-gallery over 1,000 pages of mods etc just on this case. Some amazing stuff in there.

We have some left over clear plexiglass in the garage of our building, might attack it with a dremel and put some carbon fiber wrap on it and see if I can cover those HDD mounts.. perhaps getting a bit ahead of myself lol.

Good find @overclockers,alot of impressive 540 builds.I like the neatness of the panel at the bottom of the case but only if I had a custom loop for cooling.I am still undecided so I think I will pull air through the bottom  as I said.Whatever you decide to do,and you have free plexi glass!...show pics,it's like porn to me.
