Looking to put together my next system and always get a little confused on which RAM is compatible with what. I don't rebuild too often (as you can tell by my signature hehe) so that kind of limits me to troubleshooting some of the more technical stuff if I run into a problem on a new build. I'm going with the evga Z-97 mobo, a 4790k cpu, Probably an H-80 cooler for the cpu if I find out I should'nt really tie the cpu into my water loop with my current 680's, but am interested in getting this RAM for the setup. But on G-skills site they dont list anything for the evga classified board. Sooo, plain and simple question. Will this memory work at its rated 2400 on the Z-97 or are there better options for the board? I dont worry too much about OC'ing memory, but am planning on pushing the 4790 up to 4.6 at least. Certainly would appreciate any advice on this as I have to make every purchase count, and cant really afford to spend too much extra buying other components if these just wont cut it.

If you choose the motherboard you are looking at there is a link to the right with "suggested CPU and memory" link. Good info in the link.

EVGA needs to put a noticeable icon next to it........

Side note: I just used the chart for brand recommendation. I purchased 2x 8g sticks since there are only 4 available slots. I didn't want to fill all the slots and then possibly need more RAM and have to pull out 4g sticks to replace with 8g sticks............if that makes any sense. I am using CMD16GX3M2A22400C11
which are not listed in the chart for the Z97 Classified

Thanks. I did not notice the cpu/ram list. Much appreciated. Looks like the ones I linked to are'nt on that list.

Mine are not on the list either, but they work just fine. I believe this list is what EVGA has tested the board with and verified it does indeed work. The only difference I see from the ones you linked to the "list" is the GB/ stick of RAM 4 vs 8. I would not hesitate in using the ones you have chosen, Classified and FTW support up to 32 gb, Stinger and Stinger WiFi support 16gb. You'll notice in the "list" there are no 32gb memory listed (besides Gskill)..........only way to get there (if you need 32gb) is 4 sticks @ 8gb each. My Corsair are 2400mhz, but they were plug and play to the point of entering bios and selecting the XMP profile and done.

If anything contact support with either a ticket or by phone and see what they have to say about your concern with the memory you have chosen. It would hopefully help remove any doubt you might have.

Go to this link http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator you will find the ram you want works with this board.

Thank you Cpt. Think I'll aim for the F3-2666C11D-16GTXD then.

Ok, still gathering info and parts hehe. Have my H100i, new Samsung 850 Evo 500g SSD, and got my lovely new evga Z-97 yesterday. Did I mention I love the fact that Newegg is in Indy now and only 5 miles from me. Makes it kind of special to driver over there and pick up my will call lol. Only need my G-skill ram and am going to order a 4790k @ 4.8 from siliconlottery next week. I wonder if anyone out there can do me a favor. I've been reading the mobo manual online and it would really help me if someone running the 4790k at that speed +/- and G-skill (F3-2666C11D-16GTXD, or similar) ram settings could post their bios pictures so I could study them before I put mine together and start messing with it. I dont rebuild often enough to know all the ins and outs of the bios', like some of you guys and have never messed with the uefi bios'.

Thank you

Tommy,
I am running almost the same rig. My ram is G.Skil TridentX 2400. All I did in the bios is set XMP to 1 exit the bios and restart. The bios shows the ram running at 2400, 1.65 voltagage and 16 GB. I did put the ram in slots 2 and 4. It will also run in slots 1 and 3. For the rest of the bios settings follow the bios guide. You can find it at the beginning of the Z97 theard or where you download the manuals for your board.
