I currently have 2 GTX 670 FTW running in SLI. When playing BF4 I will be playing the game and it will be fine, then randomly drop to around 4-5 FPS. The game also will crash after doing this and give me a nvlddmkm stopped responding error. I have tried a repair of the game, doing a clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers, bringing the graphic settings down to high.........nothing works. This is very random also, I can play the game for 2-3 hours with no problem on Ultra. Then the next time I get this, and have to restart the game. I have also read that tools like EVGA Precision and MSI Afterburner can cause these problems.

Orrrrr...the game is just a POS!! LOL!!

This error occurs when your computer thinks that you graphics card has stopped responding, mainly due to a low frame rates.

Make sure that you are on High Performance, in the power options section of the control panel. More specifically, make sure that the PCI express setting is turned OFF. This would fix any issues caused by low power to the video card.

Are you possibly getting throttling from excessive GPU temps?

Set to "Prefer Maximum Performance" under power management mode in the NVCP.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried both using prefer Maximum performance and turned off the PCI express setting. The temps are well withing range, say about the mid-fifties. I was running adaptive V-Sync in the NVCP, I turned it off and went with App preference and enabled it in game.  See if that works. I don't think anything is wrong with the cards or anything else. I've stress tested both cards using Furmark and Unigine Valley benchmark at extreme setting and everything is just fine. I am using MSI Afterburner, but only for cooling. I use to use EVGA precision for a long time, but the new version was difficult to work with, maybe its better now.

Just been reading around on the forum and it really seems like BF4 just really sucks on Windows 7. I read a post about a guy having two Titans in SLI having a similar problem as mine.

Have you tried turning of V-Sync?

    Edit*
    • Make sure all extra PCIE power cords are properly plugged in.
    • Remove ALL extra monitoring software. EVGA Precision, Afterburner, etc etc etc.... Only use ONE (My choice was Precision)
    • Try a new SLI Bridge (sometimes helps)
    • Remove everything Nvidia via DriverSweeper now called Display Driver Uninstaller
    • Install the newest WHQL Drivers (using Advanced, only install Driver + PhysX)
    • Once display is installed, go into Nvidia Control Panel. Click Manage 3D Settings. Under the Global Settings, Change Multi-Display/mixed-GPU acceleration to SINGLE DISPLAY PERFORMANCE MODE. Apply these settings
    • Go to Configure SLI, Surround, Physx, make sure Maximize 3D Performance is selected and that under PhysX settings, Processor: is set to Auto-Select.

I had this happen and the only thing that worked was using the display driver removal tool, restarting, and reinstalling the current drivers. Give it a try, I think it will help a lot. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Okay well I did disable Adaptive V-sync and set it to Application Preference in NVCP, I enabled V-sync in the game. Previously I did do a clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers, only selecting the driver and Physx. I played a few rounds and everything seemed good, frames held at around 60 and temps were in the mid-40's. So I will roll with this for now, next I will use the driver sweeper if the problem comes back plus other options mentioned if needed. Thanks!!

Im wondering if forcing Adaptive V-Sync could be a cause of the problem.
