Sounds a bit high to me. If the results were that high I'm sure I would have heard more complaints on the forum.

    Hmm to me it seems like first adopters are having woe's.

    Quite honestly from my own limited experience on how long i've owned my SSD's (3 now). I haven't had a single issue or hitch any form of issues what so ever.

    I own a 120GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD (My first SSD bought a year and 1/2 ago on black friday 2013)
    250GB Samsung 840 Evo
    250 GB Samsung 850 Evo (Current Primary SSD)

    I've had 4 SSD's. One Mushkin, one Kingston, and 2 Samsung. Out of the 4 the Mushkin is the only one that failed. I've also never reached the speeds that Mushkin published for that drive even on the new one. But even though I've experienced a 25% failure rate I wouldn't ever think about going back to mechanical drives for my OS drives. The way I see it is that everything will have a failure rate, there's nothing you can do about it. Obviously some drives have a super high failure rate compared to others so just avoid those drives.

    I was working in a small shop back in 2010 when the SSD craze started, and I can honestly say we saw alot of first gen SSD's with problems, we got a shipment of ASUS Laptops in, about 1 in 20 had defective SSD's, these where being configured for the local PD so we had to order new SSD's

     I have had many. Every OCZ I had failed, and 1 Mushkin.Except for the Mushkin they were all early like 2010/.

    I have owned 4 SSDs so far. Of those 4, 3 have failed. 2 Mushkins failed and 1 OCZ failed. You could count me as 75% according to that survey, but I would only count myself at 25% because I only think the 1 OCZ SSD failure was unacceptable of the 3 failures.

    The Mushkins lasted about 4 years; which I think is acceptable. The OCZ lasted less than a year.

    I opened them up. The OCZ drive failed because 2 VRMs in the power delivery circuit burnt up; unacceptable. I don't know if its Hynix memory failed and caused the VRM to burn up or what.

    The Mushkins don't show any signs of physical damage and I assume that they just failed due to normal exceedance of their Intel memory chip's read/write abilities. Flash memory is guaranteed to fail and I think 4 years of use before failure is plenty.

    The only working SSD I have left is a Samsung 830 series 512 GB drive. I just ordered up another Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB SSD drive to replace my most recent failed Mushkin drive which failed just a few days ago.

    Of the drives which failed, I could have replaced the OCZ drive under warranty; but I rarely replace computer hardware under warranty and instead take it as a lesson learned and a product to avoid in the future. If the OCZ drive lasted less than a year, why would I want to receive another one through warranty which would probably also fail prematurely?

    I use the following drives
    two 500gb EVO 840
    one 120gb OCZ vertex 3
    one 60gb OCZ vertex2
    one 128 OCZ vertex 460
    two generic Samsung 256gb drives

    Of my drives I have only had one of 60gb vertex 2  drives died, OCZ (now Toshiba)  gave me a vertex 460 for a replacement. Vertex 2 lasted 3 years before it died (in raid0)

    I have a total of 10 SSDs on different computers:
    Main Rig:
    1x Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 60GB -> Failed (Now have a replacement from Mushkin)
    2x Adata 510 120GB (raid 0) -> One failed (I need to test the drive fully and make an RMA if my warranty is still working)
    Netbook:
    1 x Samsung 830 128GB -> No problems at all.
    Laptop:
    1 x Samsung EVO 840 250GB -> No problems at all.
    2 x Samsung EVO 840 120GB (raid 1, mSata) -> No problems at all.
    HP Proliant Microserver (NAS):
    1 x Crucial M4 32GB (mSata) -> No problems at all.
    1 x Kingston V300 120GB -> No problems at all.
    HTPC:
    1 x Sandisk 128GB -> No problems at all.

    So I experienced problems in (2 of 10, 20% of failure for me!) of my older Sandforce driven SSDs, so for my that 27% is not far away from my reality, LOL!

     As I said earlier, every OCZ I had failed. That was a total of 8. All were replaced by OCZ and I quickly sold them. Made me stay away from SSD's for awhile. The Mushkin I have that failed had hardly any use. Was in my work laptop (hardly ever gets used) I have contacted Mushkin support 3 times and they have yet to get back to me. Needless to say that is the last Mushkin device I ever purchase.

    I am surprised that you had issues with your Mushkin SSD. I don't know if it depends on the model and I can't recite the model number I purchased, but the two Mushkin drives I owned were lower performance models (compared to other SSDs on the market at that time) which were basically Intel drives repackaged and distributed for cheaper by Mushkin. As you may know, Intel's drives aren't usually high performers, but they are more reliable than many -- at least compared to the other offerings 4 years ago. You might have had a higher performance model of Mushkin drive with cheaper chips.

    I've only had 2 SSDs.
    OCZ Vertex 3 240GB - Failed after 30 months, replaced under warranty and then the replacement failed after 12 months. Lost all data both times.
    Samsung 840 pro 512GB - No problem at 18 months.

    So far I'm not too impressed with the reliability of SSDs but I might have just been unlucky. I've had some regular HDDs fail on me as well so I can't make a judgment call at this time.

    Got to love half hearted reviews/studies, my 16 yr old niece could write better crap and still get the facts straight.

    Out of the SSD's I've used: Intel x25m 80GB, OCZ 240 GB (think a Vector 2?), Crucial M4 64/256GB, Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB, and 2 SanDisk 64GB's. Only the 64GB M4 needed to be RMA'd as sadly it was having issues where a power cycle was needed but eventually it didn't help (Crucial RMA=easy peazy).

    The x25m (quite an old SSD I think by now) from Intel is still running like a champ in my Dad's HP laptop after a few years now, I forget when they where released but I want to say at least 4 years now. Though my experiences vary from others, I enjoy the benefits of SSD's even with the caveats.

    I will either find a way, or make one.

    MKNSSDCR120GB is model of failed mushkin. Pretty much only put windows on it. Was used (turned on) 15 times max then wouldn't boot and then just died in about 5 min, just ceased to excist as far as PC was concerned.
    @ knightsilver, I do not believe these are reviews. Only issues of reliability for SSD's. If you are looking for reviews go to someplace like this. What facts are missing. If a SSD drive died it died, end of story. No one is talking about write or read speeds here or anything else for that matter. You either have had issues with SSD's or you haven't. Of course we are assuming people installed their SSD's correctly.
