I am running a EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC acx 2.0 card. In the last week or so I've been seeing artifacts while playing FFXIV so before I assume it's the card or the game I figured I would try to run some tests. I don't know much about video cards but I downloaded Precision X and OC Scanner to run the tests and help monitor temps etc.. What I'm finding when I run the various particle and other tests is that my card temperature will reach 80c or higher and my fans will still be setting at the idle speed of 38%. I always assumed the fans would ramp up as the temperature rose. I know I can set the fans faster but for noises levels I would prefer, if possible, for the fans to ramp up when the temps go up.
 
Does anyone know if this is a setting or a problem with my card? I'm not 100% it's the heat issue but if the fans don't change from the idle speed I could see that being a problem in a graphic heavy game like FFXIV.

Thanks. I'm still running a few tests (Unigine Heaven etc.) to see if I can see any indication that the card is the issue. I also reached out to EVGA who responded right away. I didn't realize I was still under warranty so I am going to be testing it more tonight and then get in touch with them for more direction. So frustrating. I might nudge the fan up a little if I think it will help. Funny I thought all fans automatically ramped up when the temperatures got hot. 38% just seems pretty slow when my card was hitting +80c.

Oh okay...I didn't let it get high enough I guess. I'm always uncomfortable when I see temps hit 80c so I'm pretty sure I stopped the test at that point. I guess I can test it again and see if the fan kicks faster.
