Pure rumor about 980ti. Suspecion is waiting for 390x to drop first but amd seems to be waiting for 980ti first. Its a losing game for amd though. While they hold back their cards nvidia sells the 980. If they release their cards, nvidia will trump them.

IDK, I heard that AMD is working on some new RAM that will blow DDR5 out of the water.

The numbers that are popping up for HBM are pretty incredible for bandwidth (640 GB/s vs 224 GB/s on the 980), but don't know how well the first generation of it will do, http://wccftech.com/amd-20nm-r9-390x-feautres-20nm-hbm-9x-faster-than-gddr5/
Also getting the fab down to 20nm could lead to some big performance increases, been a lot of shady benchmarks out there but will have to wait and see

Up next, GTX 980 Classified?

No worries, they will be out in 10-12 months.. LoL. Get the 980s and sell them later. They hold their value fairly well.

Also, the AMD memory thing.. I hope it is true, but will the card have the power to handle it and utilize it properly? If not, it won't matter enough... I hope it does, as that would be fun to see. I would actually consider building a mud blood step brother build again.

Doubt I will be able to sell it.

I dont think you will have an issue selling it. There are late adopters looking around all the time. Just think fair pricing or be willing to bargain a little.

May be able to sell the whole kit or break it into pieces and sell the 680 as a SLI set to someone and the board/chip to someone else, nothing wrong with any of the parts in terms of actual performance and still better then most gamers out there but since this is a hardware forum the average here tends to be a little higher then normal  lol (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/)

Yeah lots of questions on how well it work, but even if they can't fully utilize it right away removes one potential bottleneck for future, will be interesting to see the effect this has on high VRAM situations, 4k, SLI/xfire, but as per usual have to play the waiting game for it

According to all the leaks it appears to be 28nm. Linkdin accounts for their developers showed a few things about a 28nm computer card using first ever 500gb/s ram that uses 300w. It also appears the chips have been made and ready to ship but havent yet.

Yeah think the first one is going to be 28nm, would make sense for the small increase in TDP from the 290X, and would also explain why they are talking about shipping with included liquid cooled units, didn't realize that the article I checked was 4 months out of date, sorry about that

I was thinking about getting into powder coating, are your blocks not coated when you are done with them?
Because I was thinking if you could engrave the classified emblem in one of the blocks I would try to color in red around it keeping the letters silver and doing the rest of the block in black.

If you want them uncoated and without the bead blasting thats fine.  There isn't much room for logos, these blocks are small.

Hmmm. How about this, have the evga logo on the mosfet and x99 on the Southbridge? And you can color them black, I was thinking I could color the engraving with uv reactive nail polish. Lol

White-out worked great on my glock 20 slide, just sayin' lol.  Not sure if uv reactive, but might be.

Now it is haha.  Over 3,000 rounds at or above 37,000 psi using 800x powder + 155's/200's, and no issues when cleaning

Not a bad idea, but I want to color in the engraving, perhaps the whiteout could act as a primer for the nail polish though?

Whats the part number on that EK CPU block?
The only one I can find is silver, I like the black one you have.

Awesome! I was afraid that is would not be compatible due to the 2011-3 not being on the compatibility list. So yours fits just fine? No wrenching needed to get it on right?

You could white-out, then lightly clear coat with urethane to protect it.  I would test both on another object first just in case the clear coat messes with the white-out.  Best part about the stuff is it comes off easily with acetone, same stuff to clean and prepare the surface.  Just fill in the engraving, and then gently wipe the surface with acetone dampened rag so it leaves the whole surface flush and cleans off any extra.

If you go to EK's website and put in the EVGA x99 as your motherboard it will list all the compatible CPU blocks. The one you thinking of they say is further optimized for 2011-3 (2.2C degree better according to them)  but all the blocks listed are compatible. Here is the screen shot. It fits great! Minw is the first one with the arrow. The one you are thinking of is the last one.

Looks awesome!
I plan on using the Corsair Air 540 with 240mm and 360mm rads in push/pull.
Also thanks for the advice on the EK site, I did not know you could search items like that.
Not the biggest fan of their website layout.
