Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if Evga Supernova G2 psus have over temperature protection. I just read around that they don't, but it sounds kinda stupid to me. How does it protects itself from the heat then? What if the fan fails? Will the unit just overheats till it's burn or something?

Allright. So there is no protection whatsoever if the fan fails and the unit overheats a lot?

That is not what I wrote, EVGA has not posted any data about OTP.
And if the Fan Fails in the 10 Years it will replace the Power Supply Unit under Warranty.

I would think that Over Temperature Protection is a given.
You can call EVGA and ask them.

Thanks for the info. Why they didn't mention that on the product page itself?

I found that on EVGA PSU Academy.
    http://www.evga.com/articles/00722/academy.asp

Such scenario is very rear because inside PSU is heatsink and he could help same as PSU case, and components inside I think are not so sensitive on temperature. I mean they could work even on 70-80C but off course that will influence on shorter life of PSU.
I doubt even with 600-650W without fan something could happen to damage rest of PC. I saw so hot PSU in different rigs that you can't put finger on top of case (PSU on top). I mean III class PSU, not even Bronze class, fan not work, dust,
at least 80C and computer work without problem, you can't touch PC case not PSU case.
Off course that is not recommended. I'm not some expert but some of components max temps is 85-105C inside.

I install PSU in this position

...and Eco Switch is Enabled that mean fan not work but I still feel only little air on back side of PSU, that's from case fans, I have 2 inside case, and they could help lot, it's enough to just little help with heatsink inside and to prevent some disaster. Off course my PSU is 1200W, single card and he is cold even under full load, fan is disabled always, but I talk for situation where PSU work 80-90%, enough is just little cold air and nothing will happen.
Because of that some people chose stronger PSU then they really need and than fan don't need to work at all.
I can bet if someone use PSU 200W than he really need under full load nothing will happen and if fan stop to work completely.
Example 1000W for 2xGTX980, nothing will happen.
