Sure thing, I'll PM. Definitely not a winter car. The tail end is waaaay too light on ice.

What purpose is your Mustang going to built for [besides fun]? Cruiser, Street car, Street/strip,ect. You can stay with your 2.80, and see if you are happy there. Ring and pinion and some type of posi carrier will be a really nice improvement for performance. But like other things need to compliment your other powertrain options. You will have to show off your project ,with a build log.

Very nice looking car! And I won't even say "for a Ford" :) Great project! Are those the TRW flat tops in the second engine? If so about 10-1 compression. Have you thought about converting to disc out front? I hope you have many years of fun driving and building your project.

Edit: do yourself a favor and buy a bushing kit for the shifter. It will take a lot of slop out of it.

bushing kit for shifter can you show me the tranny has arms that connect to the side even though it is a top loader from the 70 's http://www.davidkeetoploaders.com/idchart2.htm id site for them old fords lol.
as for front disc yes but rear disc too.

for the pistons on 2nd 289( ill check speed shop when it goes in ) I bought it as a long block that someone had hide it as a 5.0 in a fox body car.

got rid of a 1966 289 short block I had that was .60 over 8.9 miles to gallon it got and it ran hot after long drives (the reason I bought and had rebuilt the first 289 2bbl).

I can't tell for sure ,but first glance it looks like a Competition Plus shifter. It may have that stamped on it. I have seen these in nylon and also steel, I prefer the more positive feel of the steel. It will make your shifter feel a lot better, takes the slop out of the shift linkage arms. Notice the weird looking clips in the links , those are the correct ones. The clips kind of put pressure on the rods and levers. When you can find them they are called pit packs. You might try speed shops or Summit.

^^ Nylon : in stock
http://www.hurst-shifters.com/products/3327302-shifter-accessory-pit-pack-steel-bushings
^^ steel: out of stock [of course]

^^ They actually have them.

I don't know if you are familiar with these shifters, but if you look on the main body the is a forward and aft bolt. This is where you adjust the shifter. Adjusting between the two bolts and also the shift arms per gear. You should see the shifter rods are threaded.

On the short block just by glance the pistons appear to have the 4 valve relief's 2 upper and 2 lower. I had a Chevy 350 that used similar looking pistons made by TRW they were flat top forged 10:1 compression.

okay so old out just got pilot bushing , equalizer bar and parts to go back on when motors goes in,  going to have to have some minor floor work near firewall done on driver side doesn't look like it but I see it starting.
I need to order new brake lines front to rear, new gas line from pump to tank different than the 6 cly line, need new u bolts for rear end 8 inch , also need hurst comp plus install shifter kit for the car lol
I hoping the motor will be in soon and up and running with new 4 speed , planning on manga flow stainless kit exhaust dual will be going on

yes my car is getting a little over budget but my daily driver is worth it. got to keep it up and running by time I am done I will have efi edel brock setup and manifold with carb look.

I restored this factory 4speed V8 car. Factory air cleaner and chrome valve covers. I did change some things but you can't tell from out side. I found a 1964 5bolt 289 and stroked it to 347ci and turned it 30 over. Went 10.5 :1 compression. Also took 1964 cast heads and ported the exhaust ports. Put stainless steel 194 intake and 160 exhaust valves screw in studies and guide plates and roller tip rockers. I found a factory 1964 4 barrel intake port matched with a Holly 550 cfm vacume secondary for street use. If you pop the hood it looks all 100%. But it smokes the titles in any grear.

Looks like fun!

yes it painfully fun next is upper ball joint springs and shocks then lower control arm and sway bar new
strut rod bushings and put back together with v8 spindles 5 lugs
new brake lines and fuel line for v8 car not l6 lines

new bolts for motor frame mounts so motor ready to go back in with 4 speed and comp hurst shifter

next will be 8inch rear end redo upgrade and install it back on with new u bolts

soon sub frame connectors and sub frames for the floor pan to help keep the strength in places since it a daily driver restomod

rewire car front to back new fuses instead of glass and Bluetooth radio so I have hands free in car

right now drums all the way around (brake hardware and drums are new with dual reservoir ) temporary until I get some stuff taking care of first like mom car fixed and bill paid
