EA Will Charge For Gas In Need For Speed: No Limits As Part Of Its Ongoing Effort To Make Games As Mundane And Annoying As Real Life
 

It's been a few years since a Need for Speed game popped up on Android, but EA announced last year that NFS: No Limits would arrive this spring. The game has already launched on iOS in a few regions, and the early reports indicate EA is up to its same old in-app purchase tricks. Actually, it's maybe even a little worse. No Limits will charge you to fill up the tank, which is funny because that sounds like a limit. Can't be, though. The game is called "no limits."

Wait wait wait!! Let me get this straight do you have to pay for gas with real money or in game money? Either way this is something new for a NFS racing game fan like myself. It makes me wonder though, are they trying to make the game experience a more realistic one? For example my favorite racing game of all time is Forza Motorsports and in that game you have to fill up with gas as well. But the catch is you dont pay for it because you simple go to a pit stop. We can argue too is that if NFS wanted to go with a more realistic approach to racing, they would need to add car damage to the game that actually effects your performance. But then again would they make you pay for that too with repair work? Back in the day I used to play a game for the regular Xbox called SRS and it was a free roam street racing game like NFS. But on the contrary they made you pay with in game currency for any damage that was done to your car. I also want to mention that in Forza what ever damage that is done to your car you get penalized from the cash reward you receive at the end of each race.

That said, if you can get through the game just fine without paying extra, I don't see why this matters as long as it doesn't unbalance MP elements. Then again I was that kid who bought a Game Genie for his NES.

Coming soon to Battlefield 5, your skills will be rewarded as you'll pay less for ammunition. Save your cash for the DLC since it will be bigger and better (fine print: more expensive).

Now that's the wrong attitude. What happens with that is while your sitting in your corner happily gaming away, they ruin another game like this one, for example, and then before you know it your game is the next one on the chopping block. Suddenly, you care and say to yourself "Wish I got involved earlier!" That right there is what is wrong with most of the world right now. Now, saying that, if its a F2P/F2D game and the purchase is totally optional without ruining the general experience of the game, that's fine by me. What it seems like they are implementing though is more akin to a pay-to-win type scenario, and that's not ok with me. Of course they are EA and also own 19.9% of Ubisoft too so im not surprised by the way they treat gamers at all. The source article doesn't seem to be too informative about all the particulars and really seems more like a rant, so id like to see more info about this.
