I went thru that many times at one point gave up and got USB 3.0 add on card but I could not leave it alone so did an out of the case test which made thing worse it would no longer boot on the original bios switch setting and I used full ESD protocol so no static electricity damaged.. any way I have had the 3rd RMA board installed and running for a week now and all controllers are working as the should and I am checking constantly for USB drop out. some of the Dark boards have some kind of hardware based problem

EVGA X79Dark (bios 2.13) paired with i7-4960X,
 32 gigs of Corsair Vengeance 1866 C10 ram,
2 EVGA GTX 980ti Hydro Copper’s, Corsair AX1200i power supply and XSPC Ray Storm D5 RX480 V3 Water Cooling Kit, 2 512 gigs OCZ Vector’s
SSD’s in raid 10. Windows 10 pro

Hello evga community!
This is my first post here, english is not my first language so be a little merciful with me..
I've got a similiar problem like the OP, my USB 3.0 ports a randomly working and not working. I'm living with this problem quiet some time now, years to be honest.
However, what is really bothering me is:
I can't open the BIOS with my USB Keyboard when plugged on the usb 3.0 rear. It's seems like my usb Keyboard will be recognized as Keyboard when Windows is running (whenever I have to type my password for my useraccount).
It was never ever working. How am I supposed to fix this?
 
And btw does anyone know how to fix the usb3.0 problem already? I have to shutdown my Computer whenever I notice I can't move my mouse/Keyboard on the User Display, it's random luck if my mouse or Keyboard are being recognized as usb devices...everything has been updated ofc.

Hi and Welcome to the forums...
 
Because USB 3.0 requires a driver to run, it's not supported until Windows loads along with the drivers.  So in the BIOS, no drivers are loaded yet.  That's why you don't have your keyboard or mouse available.
 
Best to use USB 2.0 for mouse & keyboard in my opinion.

I got a RMA Board and now my USB 3 are nearly dead too. My USB and Dongle devices light up an produce some sound when I plug them in, but they are not operating: usb mass storages dont show up in windows and dongle keys dont share there licenses ...
 
How can I fix that?
