In response to a flurry of complaints about deactivated Uplay game keys that hit the Ubisoft forums over the weekend, the publisher issued a statement saying it regularly deactivates "fraudulently obtained" keys, but added that it is looking into the matter further and will issue an update to affected customers as soon as it can.

The trouble began on Saturday, when an "expatriate Belgian in Poland" complained that a Far Cry 4 game key he'd purchased from reseller Kinguin had been deleted from his Uplay library without warning. He's purchased keys from Kinguin in the past, he wrote, because Polish stores don't carry English or French-language games and the exchange rate on Steam between the Euro and the złoty, Poland's currency, is absolutely outrageous, and this is the first time he's run into trouble.

seen this posted alot around the steam FC4 forum, this is why you don't cheap out and get keys off third party sites, I paid $60 for FC4 Gold edition during the steam christmas sale and guess what, mine still works.

He bought his key legitimately. If you look at the exchange rate to which he is referring, it would be like having to pay our equivalent of $90 for the game on Steam. If Ubisoft doesn't want people to go to more affordable sites, they need to fix their business model to be more inviting to global customers. Taking away a rightfully purchased key is outrageous. Now, if the keys are fraudulent as Ubisoft claims (which I doubt that claim is true considering the genius of Ubusoft's PR team), then I would agree with their removal. As it stands currently, however, I do not.

Child Light I'm not sure about but the key rejection bug with FC3 happened to me too, the key wasn't acually banned in this case though, you just had to use a specific method for it to work. (I don't remember the instructions of how to do it)

FC4 however I didn't have this problem, I bought it through steam and it works fine in uplay like normal so I can give you that garantee it will work if you still want to buy it.

Yeah, I am with you on this one. I think this is Ubisoft pulling some BS.

I'm sorry, but Ubisoft didn't say the keys were fraudulent when they first pulled them. They can't change their story now just to cover their rear ends. I'm pretty sure if the keys had been fraudulent they would've said so up front to the press instead of discussing regional exchange rates.

Does anybody else find it ironic that Ubisoft are always the only ones who complain publicly about their customers pirating?
Not long ago they were claiming everybody who gets a particular bug in their game was completely at fault of piraters.
Then, there's so many microtransactions that could be cutting off income streams - should anything they claim is actually true.

Seriously, find me three articles on different publishers doing this - I challenge you.
