I was just curious what kind temperatures people are getting with the 980 Classified and maybe get some advice on a proper fan curve.  I don't know whether I should just ignore using PrecisionX to set up a fan curve or just let the GPU handle the fans itself.  I've noticed that this thing sounds like a jet engine when the fans really ramp up.

I'm not too keen on overclocking, so it's running stock, as far as what EVGA has done for it.

My idle temperatures hover around 38-40C, however, I've noticed that when I was playing some H1Z1, my temperatures were climbing above 80C.  I'm not sure if it's just because the game isn't very optimized right now, which could be the case since it's alpha, but I definitely don't like getting that high.

I'm running a 1080p monitor at 120Hz, so I'm not exactly doing anything too demanding for it to get that warm, and I've got great airflow through my case.

I set my curve to be 30% above 40C and be at 70% above 70C. Pretty much a straight line between. Mine stayes below 70 for the most part. I don't have a very good overclocker for a classified either, only getting 1490 at stock voltages. if I run heaven at 70% fan it'll stay around 65-66C. Hope that helps. Call me anal but I don't like my GPU ever going over 70C. Has kept me from blowing up a GPU so far.

I have mine OCed to cap out at 1531 so far and max voltage and i left fan curve alone except for the idle part where i drag the first block straight down all the way and temps never go above 70, avg bout 67-69. If u bring down the volts btw to 2nd poster u might get higher overclocks, seen ppl say before if u lower voltage and power target temp u may get higher clocks. To dial it in to what ur max is takes some time.

I'm only at stock voltage. How do you bring it below that? I only see a way to increase it in PrecisionX, which doesn't work for me and i'm awaiting an RMA actually. I'm not able to go above 1.21 volts unless I click on OVERBOOST and then it jumps to 1.4 and my card goes all crazy. I think I got a bad card. My OVERVOLT tab only goes to 37mV and it doesn't actually apply the voltage.

I have 2 in SLI (waiting for EK ...) and imho, stock curve keeps the fans idle for too long, so I use a custom curve in which I bring the fans online earlier at lower temps. I too like to keep them <= 70, I'm not bench running, I'm just playing games.

I have not had good luck with much OCing on them on air, but to be honest I haven't yet really dedicated a lot of time to squeeze more out (life happens).

I use the "OC" Bios as the (stock) fan curve is a little more aggressive.  GPU doesn't get above 60-65C with the fans @ 40-50% when gaming.

like most,i dont like the silent/no fan mode, and i keep it as cool as posible.dont know ive i have a good or a bad overclocker but for now:
temps are idle  28/30 and in game load max 68 with a fan curve from 30 temp 20 prcnt fan, straightline to 70 temp 80 prcnt fan and from there 1 line to 80 temp 100 prcnt fan(sounds like 2 jets ) on 124 power target/ temp 90 ,core +58(1350,max boost 1551) mem +125(7260) overvolt +12mv, everyday use 24" 1920-1080 monitor.

i play game like farcry 3,4, crysis 1,2,3, battlefied 3, metro2033, call of duty (all of them)
